A WEEK LATER:
December 18, 2013
"Are you ready for tomorrow?" I asked Karla as I slouched into a desk. She nodded super fast as she let out an excited giggle like a little kid. "Yep! I'm all packed and ready!" she said as she jumped onto the desk.
"I'm excited for you girls. This is a big opportunity," Mrs. Canterbury said, as she wrote an agenda down on the white board. "I knowww!" Karla said, slapping my arm in excitement. This is gonna be a fun trip.
I got home and spun around in happiness. Suddenly I remembered... Valerie can't be home alone, and mom isn't home, and I didn't find anyone to watch her over the Christmas holidays.
Shit.
...
"Hey Mrs. Tannerfield?" I asked Karla's mom over the phone. "Yes?" she answered. She seemed preoccupied with some task so I didn't want to hold her on the phone long. "Are you able to take care of my little sister Valerie while Karla and I go to London?" I asked. There was a pause and I heard something crash in the background. I heard her say a swear word soon after. "I'm sorry sweetie, but my husband and I have been busy building onto our house. I don't think we will be able to this time," I sighed and tapped my foot in frustration. "It's fine. Thank you for informing me," I said before I hung up, irked at her answer.
I then picked up the phone and dialed Karla's cell number. She's bound to answer her phone. It rang once and she picked up. "Hello?" she asked, eager for my hellos. "Hi," I said, glad that she picked up. "Whats up?" "Oh, I just remembered that my little sister, Valerie, doesn't have anyone to stay with while we are gone," I heard our conversation go silent, and then it reappeared again as Karla replied. "Did you ask my parents?" she asked, totally not knowing I just called them not five minutes before. "I already did... they said no," Karla sighed and then perked up, "Maybe you could bring her with us, you know. We could sneak her in the backstage part and stuff," "Karla... You honestly think we could pull off sneaking in a six year old to the world's most popular band's dressing room? I don't think so," I answered, having an attitude. Sometimes, I just don't understand her logic... Well... if there is any sometimes.
"Just a thought! Geez," she said, copying my attitude. I rolled my eyes as I continued to contemplate for a solution. We discussed all the ways that we could sneak Val into the concert, but we knew we would get in trouble for any of them... and besides, we had to be on our best behavior since we were going due to the generosity of the school and the funds.
Finally I got the idea to call my Aunt Mae, to come get Valerie and bring her there with mom and all them. And I dialed Aunt Mae's number and she agreed and said to just stay here until she came to pick up Valerie.
Yay... everything was set.
