She packed in silence. She stared off into space whilst she waited. She got dropped off at the clinic by Katy and Shawn. She blanked them when they tried to say goodbye to her.Maya was completely lifeless. She was a trainwreck at best and everyone knew it.Every person at the centre looked at her with concern and pity whilst they sorted Maya out and made her feel 'at home'.Yeah because being locked up in a room like a psychotic person was homely.

When Maya's doctor came to see her in her room she didn't speak.Maya didn't know what had gotten into herself, something inside of her compelled her to give up hope in being cured and just shut down. She had seen the tv shows,Maya knew that everyone who went to rehab had a rocky start. They either got into fights with their helpers or neighbours or just shut down.Maya didn't have fight in her so she decided to become the depressed little girl she knew she was going to be.Of course there was always the option of fighting the obstacles she had in life but what fun would that be?

The first few days followed on as so.Maya sat in her room only moving to go to the bathroom or eat the food she was given. She sat staring at a wall, legs crossed, eyes glazed over.It wasn't until the 3rd week when Maya showed change. She had gotten a visit from her doctor and he had come up with an idea for her to go into group therapy.Maya unwillingly walked into the room full of people with their own problems. After listening to them all,Maya felt shocked and guilt ridden. How could she behave so low when there were so many out there exactly like her, some even worse? She didn't want to admit that she felt guilty infront of everyone so afterwards she agreed to the sessions with her doctor. They talked out her problems and Maya came to the realisation that she did matter in some way, even if it wasn't to the people who she wanted. She realised that her problem was a big deal, eventhough there were others worse than her.
"Every problem is unique as is the person behind that problem."
Her doctor often quoted that which made Maya smile, not a real smile, but a smile. Her progress was slow but atleast there was progress being made.

Her Christmas was quiet. She spent it with a young girl she had met at the clinic. She had a drinking problem too but she aslo self harmed. She was only 14 and it made Maya's heart break to here about this girls problems. She was called Aubrey. They formed a close bond over the month that Maya had been there. They shared their secrets and Maya even snuck into Aubrey's room at night sometimes so then they could have 'sleepovers'.Aubrey helped Maya when Maya felt the burn of being sober. It was hard for her to get used to it.No alcohol or cigarettes.Maya didn't know how she was still living without them. She had depended on them for four months and they were like the friends she didn't have at that time.To just let them go and give them up tested Maya's strengh to the maximum.

There was one day when Maya was sat in the doctors office, listening to how she could progress even further so then she could get out of the rehab. That obviously wasn't happening very soon though because Maya still got the urge to drink on the occasions she was feeling low.The doctor said something that made Maya's heart rate increase and Maya run out of the office and hide in her room for the rest of the day.

"Its that boys birthday soon isn't it.February 14th?You should think about sending him a card or letter.Maybe you send everyone one.It could really help with your next step,Forgiveness."
