Louis's mother was extremely happy that Louis had decided to go with Harry, for some reason that Louis couldn't understand, but he didn't question it since his mom was happy.
Liam wasn't so happy about it, but he didn't really say anything either. When Louis ran to him at the end of his third period and told his news, he had just frowned but nodded nonetheless. And of course accepted the hug Louis almost forced him into.
Niall was his usual happy-go-lucky self and nodded along with a smile as Louis ranted about the trip and the places he wanted to go in Paris. Niall was clearly feeling a little bit bad for Louis about the fact that his best friend didn't really accept his friendship with Harry. Louis was feeling a little bit tired on his last period, but he still smiled happily in the back of the maths class he was in.
They didn't exactly have any suitcases at Tomlinsons's household, since they didn't really travel. But thankfully Harry, being the angel he was, promised to borrow Louis one. It smelled like new plastic and looked unused, but no matter how hard Louis glared at Harry and tried to read him, he didn't get him to admit that he had bought a new suitcase for Louis. It was weird, when Louis get to know Harry, he wondered if the rich boy had himself a sugar daddy, but now the tables have turned and Louis had started to wonder if he himself had accidentally got himself a sugar daddy out of Harry without intending to do so or agreeing in to anything. Seriously, does that even happen?
"Have you packed already?" Louis asked Harry as he was sitting cross legged on his very own bed on the new bed cover, with his drawer of socks in his lap. He was trying to decide how many pairs would he need. At least ten. But then again it was a whole week. Probably fifteen.
"Yes, I have." Harry's voice hummed from the direction of Louis's closet. Louis had given Harry his special permission to go through his closet and choose some nice clothes from there. Harry clearly had a hidden taste in fashion somewhere deep inside of him, and Harry probably knew that he better be careful with Louis's clothes and treat them with such a gentleness he would treat a newborn. He better do, unless he wanted to die from Louis's bare hands.
"Already? I swear sometimes you're not even a human." Louis mumbled and held two pair of black socks in his hands, one with white polka dots and one with white stripes.
"Nah, I'm very human. I just kept my hopes up that you would go with me and packed few days ago." Harry locked eyes with Louis with a sly smile, and then looked at Louis's hands. "Stripes." He commented quickly before continuing: "And on top of that, I'm not materialistic person. I can deal with fewer outfit options than somebody."
" Well I'm sorry I fill the gay stereotype of being fashion obsessed!" Louis exclaimed, pretending to be offended, as he put the dotted socks away. Perhaps he was offended, just a little. But not really.
Harry had came over at Louis's house after school to help Louis, just making a quick trip at home to get Louis a suitcase, and as he apparently had packed his own stuff at some point he had no problem with packing Louis's clothes for the rest of the day. At least that's what he said.
He better have no problem because Louis being the slight ADHD he was sometimes, it would take time and he would get extremely stressed out, needing the help Harry was offering.
Louis was finally satisfied with his selection of footwear, he happily captured every single pair of socks in his arms and walked to his suitcase that was laying next to Harry on the floor, next to the closet. After he dumped the socks there and somehow tried to make them take as little space as possible, he observed Harry's work and his clothing choices. Most of them were good, and honestly, if Harry wanted to see Louis wearing a potato sack he probably would wear it.
Walking to the window, Louis frowned as he looked at the white ground. He really hadn't had time to let the little boy inside of him out and play in the snow, and he really felt like he wanted that right now at this very second. But he couldn't and he was aware, besides he was so nervous and stressed out about the trip and the time limit they had with getting ready.
"Ugh, it's too nice looking outside to be stuck inside all day. What the heck, I needed it to snow and now that it did I can't even enjoy it properly." He still whined like a little kid, and the little boy inside of him got to make appearance, maybe not on the way he really wanted to but the subject was still same anyway.
"I am deeply sorry that I am making you ditch your plans with snowy Doncaster but I can reassure you that there's snow in France too." Harry stated from the closet with a hint of amusement in his tone, and soon Louis felt Harry's presence approach him and sit on the bed, next to the spot Louis was standing at.
" Yeah..." Louis mumbled, and turned his head to right to look at Harry. As their gazes met, they smiled and for a while it was simply them staring at each other. But as staring competition tended to, this one ended in one of the boys losing their poker face and bursting in to a soft laughter. That happened to be Louis, and Harry chuckled along a little before he got up and walked back to the closet to continue his business.
The rest of the evening, like the start of it had been as well, was nice and quiet and calm. And when Louis had expected the last minute packing to be frantic and loud and quick, he should've reminded himself that this was Harry Styles. This was the mysterious charming person, who did everything with certain stable vibe, and who could probably spend a day pretending to be a statue without anyone having a clue he was actually a human in pure flesh. His movement was slow, but not in that way of slow when the most hyper personalities get impatient and start huffing from boredom, no, it was calmingly slow like snowfall on Christmas Eve and a cup of tea. The kind that infected everyone and everything around him and made everything in to a warm peaceful fog.
Louis sat on the bed slowly, watching where he placed his butt just so he could set in on the exact place where Harry had sat. It wasn't so warm, sadly, but Louis still sat there just because. He probably should have kicked his own ass and get back to packing, but sometimes he just liked to observe everything around him.
" Are you tired?" Harry's gentle voice sounded from across the room, and Louis shook his head no lazily. Harry raised his eyebrows at him, not buying Louis's answer, but letting it go with a slight smile. Instead of arguing, Harry slowly grabbed a white vans T-shirt from the pile he had put the chosen clothes on.
And maybe, the moment when Louis felt the smile creep on his face as he watched Harry fold up Louis's t-shirts, not perfectly, but almost, maybe that was the moment when he realized that he, Louis Tomlinson had a crush and just maybe love was a real thing. It wasn't just Ed Sheeran love songs or feeling your heart burst out of your chest, or the final scenes on 80's classic chick flick movies. It was actual, it was everyday-life and it wasn't fireworks and butterflies and sweet tastes. But it was worth it. It wasn't sunshine or babies first giggles or warm coffee on a chilly morning. But it was worth it. It was real. It was made to fit in your everyday life and sometimes it felt a little numb and blue. Still worth it. And even though that description may seem disappointing to some people, Louis realized that was what he wanted. And if Harry felt anything near what he felt and wanted anything what Louis wanted, just maybe someday he would be able to cross out the first task of his list.
He didn't love yet. Of course not.
But he had a crush, a big one, and isn't that where it starts?

A smol chapter.
I know I know it's been ages. I feel so ashamed, my updating game is so weak. Let me just go in to a corner of shame. It's probably still warm from the last time I sat at there.
Really though, apparently trying to go to the gym pretty much everyday and school takes a lot of time. Thankfully now it's vacation, and now it's only the gym that takes time.
