She kicked a stone from the path.
"Not really. It was a bit pretentious."
"Why the fuck would he do that?"
"I'm so done"
"Can I bash someone's head open? Preferably his?"
"I shouldn't even care, it's not like I'm gonna visit them."
"I'm just so fucking done."
Bonnie nodded her head to everything her friend said, she had gotten used to this routine over the time she'd known Marceline.
This really does suck, even I'm a bit surprised. I hope she doesn't blame me. Hopefully she'll be over it by the time schools back, though I'll probably have to get Fi to help calm her. I never did like Huston anyway, he always seemed like a major dickwad.
"I mean, really?! Was he trying to-"
A phone buzz interrupted Bonnie's thoughts, which her friend ignored and continued to rant. She flipped open her bag, quickly accepting the call. Turned away from the screaming girl she whispered into the phone, not wanting to disturb Marceline.
"Yeah, she's pretty upset. Right now she's kicking a rock, dunno if that's gonna be good. Welp. The rocks gone. Uh-huh, it's pretty bad."
"Do I need to head over?"
"Might as well. It's not like her mood can get any worse. Be here soon- oh, and please bring Finn."
She ended the call, continuing to listen to her friend as she massacred the rocks in front of McDonald's. It was rainy and dark, but no thunder, and the only thing happy about the scene was the glowing M above them. It was kind of like part of a movie.
"I would literally murder him! I don't even care! It's not like he's ever around either!"
Bonnie let out a little gasp and furrowed her brow. Grabbing Marceline's wrist she pulled her to a sitting position on the damp cement where the parking spots met the dirt. The girl let out a little whine of protest as her friend put her hands on the side of her pale head.
"Marceline, you would not do that."
"Yes. I. Would."
"He's your father. The one that loved and cared for you in your childhood. Besides, a life's sentence in jail is not worth something that can be resolved over a few words."
"Arrgh! You wouldn't know, you've never know anything but perfect your whole life!"
Another rock went skidding down the turf.
Bonnie sighed, but she could see the anger slowly trickling away from her companion.
"But, like always, I guess you're right, Bon-bon."
The distraught girl sunk down, and her friend leaned over to hug her. As soon as she felt tears dot her eyes, she heard a couple recognizable voices in the distance, causing her to snap her head up.
Man, this really is like a movie.
"Hey!" Marshall lee shouted, as Finn and him jogged over to where the girls were. There was a worried look on Finns face, a look Bonnibel returned.
Marceline quickly wiped her tears and put on a crooked smile. Marshall lee checked her face, making her blush. Either he didn't care or assumed she had been crying, which was true."You sure? Besides, if I was happy the first place I would go isn't exactly a local McDonald's." The dark haired boy scratched his head, but sadly his humor wasn't returned.
"I-I'm fine guys, no worries. Thanks for coming though. I think I just need to get home. Thanks."
She got up and hugged both of them and walked to the car, with Bonnie trailing behind. Bonnie turned her head, giving each of the boys a worried nod and catching up to start the car.
Everything is not fine, Marcy. You don't need to fake it. You don't need to be tough all the time. We've all been your friends for so long. We all know how tough life's been on you and how the same goes for us. You don't need to be alone.
