"Luke! Run! Go!" Mom yells.
"I can't! I won't leave you and Dad!"
"Dammit Luke! Get the hell out of here!" my dad yells this time.
I don't know what to do. So I do the one thing I was told. I run. I hear my mother's screams of agony. Bang! Bang! I hear the sound of gun shots now. Why only two? I couldn't resist, so I stop running and look back. My dad...he shot himself. The first shot must have been to kill Mom and the second for him. He gave up. He left me. Me, his only child. He abandoned me. He could have turned and ran! He could have saved himself once Mom was bitten! He left me alone... I'm all alone now.
Once I emerge from my thoughts, I see the herd moving on to get me. Some stay to eat my mom and dad, the rest come for me.
I thought our camp was safe. I'll never be safe. Never. What's the point in running? I'm alone and have nowhere to go. I should just let myself be eaten.
No! I'm not giving up like him! I turn and I run and I don't stop this time.
