I've been in this place for a couple of days now. I'm not sure I like it here, even though the other survivors seem nice. A lot of them welcomed me in when I stumbled upon this place. Since I showed up alone, I've been checked up on a lot. Deanna, the leader, does most of the checking up on me. She said since I was just a kid, I couldn't live alone. She's made me stay in her house since I have arrived. Deanna said she'd soon find a place "more comfortable" for me to live in soon. I don't see how anywhere else could be more comfortable, I mean, a house is a house. This place seems too good to be true, really. I mean, they act as if the world hasn't ended. The adults have jobs and the kids go to school. Although, "school" is just the basics. Nothing more. It's also located in some lady's garage. The community has tall walls protecting us on every side. They've established solar panels, giving us power. Electricity. Wow, I thought I'd never see it again. It's been two days since I arrived and I still can't believe my eyes. This place is like Heaven in a world of living hell. They call this place Alexandria.

"Luke! Come down here, I would like for you to meet one of the kids that live here," Deanna yells from downstairs.

As I walk down the stairs, I see a tall boy. He's skinny and has sandy colored hair just long enough to cover his forehead. He looks to be around my age, seventeen. When I got down to him he was just an inch or two taller than me.

"Hey, I'm Ron. Nice to meet you," he says shaking me hand.

"Luke. Nice to meet you too," I say.

"I thought it was time for you to make some friends, Luke," explains Deanna.

I don't like meeting new people, it always makes me nervous.

"Yeah, that's cool. I was kinda getting bored of staying in my room alone all day," I say to Deanna.

"So, Luke, I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my place and hang out for awhile?" Ron asks.

"Sure."

"Cool, let's go."

And there I was, being thrown into socializing with someone I don't know at all.
