Carl's P.O.V
"Carl, get up! You're gonna be late again!"
"Okay, Dad. I'm up."
"Come downstairs and eat!"
Man, I swear school starts way too early.
I crawl out of bed, pull on the first thing I find in my closet and go down to eat breakfast.
"I'm off to work! Bye baby," Dad says kissing Mom, "See ya later, Carl."
"Bye Dad."
"Grab a bowl of cereal, quickly. We gotta get you to school."
"Well, I don't have to go, ya'know."
"Ha. Ha. Nice try."
She smiles sitting a bowl, cereal, and milk down in front of me on the table. She slowly backs away from the table and puts her hands on her stomach.
"Carl, the baby it's... Oh God!" she screams
Mom falls to the ground, holding her stomach and screaming.
"Mom, what's happening? What do I do?!"
"It's tearing my insides! Shoot me, Carl! Do it! Don't let me turn into one of them!"
"What's tearing you apart? One of what?" I say shaking from fear.
"Shoot me! Carl, shoot me!"
She's coughing up blood. Lots of it.
"Carl, do it!" she yells gurgling the blood in her throat.
"Dad took his gun! We don't have another! Besides, I've never shot one!"
"Knife!" she winces from the pain, "Get one and stab me in the head! Don't let me become a monster!"
"What are you taking about? A monster? Mom, what do I do?!"
Her stomach tears open, revealing little hands and feet moving around.
"You're weak! You deserve this, not me! You deserve what he's doing to you too! Every bit of it! I hope he kills you soon! You deserve it! You're just a pathetic, weak kid!"
Her yells turn to a horrible laugh. The laughs go on and on. The baby's trying to crawl out of the tear in her stomach now.
She stops laughing all together. Just like that. She looks me right in the eyes with a concerned and loving look, then speaks in a calm and relaxed tone.
"You're gonna beat this world, I know you will. You're smart, and you're strong, and you are so brave. And I love you. You gotta do what's right. Promise me you'll always do what's right. You are the best thing I ever did. I love you, I love you my sweet boy. I love you.
Goodnight, love."
__________
I wake up drenched in a cold sweat with tears streaming down my face. That was the first dream I've had about her since she died.
I take a deep breath and slowly let it out.
"I love you too Mom," I whisper as I try to fall asleep again.
I need as much rest as I can get to survive this new, horrible life.

I absolutely loved the speech Lori gave to Carl as she died, so I had to add it, I couldn't resist.
This chapter wasn't anything like I've been writing, it had a little bit of the pre-apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic world in it. It was really, really fun to write.
I hope y'all have been enjoying the story so far! I've had a lot of fun writing it. I think I'm going to end it pretty soon, I just don't know where to stop it at though. I have a few ideas.. But I really want to leave y'all with a big cliff hanger. I haven't exactly made up my mind yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to write a sequel, or two to this story.
Please vote and comment! I really like hearing from y'all!
