Chapter 20

*NOT THE MAN EATING BANANAS!*

"I used to live in Washington." Jessica said. "It's relatively known as the 'beehive state'."

The sun was setting onto the horizon of evergreen trees. I wouldn't think it would be wise to fly a golden chariot in the dark, or camp in a dark forest either. A light bulb goes off in my head. I collect some twigs, sticks, and dry leaves from the ground.

"Umm.......Autumn what are you doing?" Nick asked.

"I'm making fire. What does it look like I'm doing?" I set the pile of wood down a few feet away from the chariot. It's not the first time I built a fire. One time Kasidee and I ran away from the apartment, and we went to the forest near the playground. I was experimenting on my powers at the time. So I held onto a stick for a long period of time. So long that my knuckles turned white. Suddenly, POOF it turned into ashes. Kaisdee of course smiled and encouraged me to do it again. But I told her I didn't want to start a forest fire. I shake myself out of my memory and start to burn one twig that looked like a fork. Immediately it turned to ashes. I heard a small chuckle from Nicholas. I ignore him and tried again, but this time with less effort. FOOM it turned to ashes and trickled on the ground near my feet. This time Nick was laughing hysterically. Holding his ribs as if they were about to fall out. 'The third times the charm' I thought to myself. I grabbed another stick and tried again with the smallest effort i could give. POOF! A small flame danced on the stick. The stick was on fire! I threw it into the pile of dry leaves. And then it grew larger and more magnificent turning yellow, orange, and blue.

"I've. Made. Fire!" I announce to the dark blue sky. Stars speckled the dark canvas.

Jessica patted my back. "Sorry, but, that has already been created by the cavemen. But great job. I'll take patrol tonight. You guys have done enough when I was unconscious. Get some rest."

"If you need us then wake us up." Nick informed.

Jessica nodded and sat on the ground with her double-sided blades by her side.

Instead of sleeping in the chariot, I rested on the green grass. Not near the fire, but close enough so I could keep warm. Nick slept in the chariot. Starburst was probably sleeping in the flowery meadow. I fell asleep and thankfully no dream awaited me.

I woke up and Jessica was still awake keeping her eyes focused on the tree line. She had her camo coat on.The sky was turning pink and orange. I loved sunrises, it just always made me feel happy. Like the times Kasidee, Mom, and I had fun together.

"Are you alright?" I ask her.

Jessica shakes her head as if she snapped out of a trance. "Yep. I"m 100% fine. It's just cold." she smiled. "I'll go wake Nick up and saddle up Starburst. Then we can be on our way."

She walked over to the chariot and so did I. Nick was sleeping peacefully, his thumb was in his mouth. Jessica and I giggle at the sight. Jessica poked into Nick's backpack and brought out two fresh water balloons. She handed me a red one and she had a blue one.

Jessica mouthed, "1...." she and I raise our water balloons. "2..............3"

We release our water balloons and they exploded as they made contact to Nick's body.
