"Okay class, settle down."

Ms. Brown was trying to get us all to sit down and watch some kind of video, but most kids were running around wildly.

I let out a sighing, walking over towards the rug that sat in front of the projector screen.

The rug was itchy on my bare legs, and I tried to tuck my dress under me as much as possible to avoid contact with the material.

Slowly, more and more kids started to settle down onto the rug.

I was a little startled when Luke took the seat right next to me. I looked over at him, my eyes meeting his. A small smile danced across his lips. I smiled back, but he never saw it.

Macy sat down next to him, stealing his attention from me.

The grin dropped from my face, and my gaze fell to my hands in my lap as Macy started to giggle.

I felt sad that I hadn't gotten to talk to Luke, but I was also angry at Macy for talking to him. But I didn't know why.

"Okay kids!" Ms. Brown said, far more excited than any of us were. "Today, we'll be watching a little film about other countries. We'll look at Australia, France, England, China, and Brazil."

She walked behind us, placing a large reel of film onto the projector.

Ms. Brown was old school. I don't know why she didn't just use a DVD player like my Mom had, but the film projector looked cool and I was curious how it worked.

After the lights were dimmed, the movie started, showing a man sitting at an office desk.

I let out a long sigh, pulling my legs up to my chest and placing my chin on my knees.

I had no interest in watching this movie. I didn't care about these other countries.

All I cared about was the fact that Luke and her still hadn't stopped whispering, although I still didn't know why I cared.

I closed my eyes, only to have them fly open a second later when I felt something on my hand.

I looked down and saw Luke's hand right next to mine, some of his fingers brushing my own fingers.

I glanced over at him and noticed his green eyes looking back at me, a smile playing on his lips.

I couldn't help the grin that was growing on my own lips, and quickly looked back to the projector screen so he wouldn't know how happy it made me that his hand was on mine.
