"Luke, you are horrible at this."

"I'm sorry! I can never tell where the camera is pointing."

"Right now, it's pointing at the sky."

"Sorry!"

Luke and I were trying to video chat - key word 'trying.' He was horrible at it, always having the camera either too close or too far from his face. He was currently walking around his house looking for who knows what, while I was sat outside on our swing.

I laughed as Luke's feet came into the view of the camera. "Luke, put some socks on!"

He whipped the camera up to his face, except it was way too close. "Don't talk about my feet like that. They're sensitive."

I laughed even harder as his eyes moved away from the phone and he started talking to his mom. I couldn't hear what they were saying because Luke's hand was over the microphone, but I noticed a faint blush cover his freckled cheeks before he turned away and began walking somewhere else.

Pretty soon the camera was pointing towards Luke's bed as he grabbed a blanket and headed outside.

"Okay," he said after what felt like hours. "I'm ready."

I rolled my eyes. "Why didn't you do that before you called me?"

Luke just shrugged. "Thought I'd take you on an adventure through my house."

"What did your mom talk to you about?"

Again, he seemed to blush. Well, as much as I'd ever seen a boy blush. "Nothing," he murmured before changing the subject. "Wanna play twenty questions?"

I furrowed my eyebrows. "What's that?"

"It's a game where we just ask each other questions."

"Why? That sounds boring."

Luke shrugged again. "I don't know, I've never played it. Wanna try?"

"Sure. I'll go first." I paused to think about my question. "What's your favorite animal?" I asked.

"Lame," he commented, and I stuck my tongue out. He seemed to wriggle in his spot a little, getting comfortable. "Probably a horse. 'Cause they're so big and strong but they're also nice and I like riding them."

I smiled. "Your turn."

He didn't even pause to think. "What's your favorite food?"

"That's easy. Definitely lasangna." Luke made a face and I laughed. "What's your favorite school subject?"

"Definitely English," he said, and I couldn't hold back another laugh. "What? Don't laugh at me! Just because I'm a guy doesn't mean I can't like English!"

"I just didn't take you for the reading type! Anyway, it's your turn."

I watched through the screen as Luke bit his lip in concentration, as if he was trying to think of a question, but I knew him better than that. From the look in his eye, I could tell that he already had a question in mind, he just didn't know whether or not he should ask it.

"Who do you have a crush on?"

I nearly choked on air. "W-what? What are you talking about?"

"In class the other day, Olivia said that you told her who you had a crush on," he said, and I could tell by the look in his eye that he was pretending to be uninterested in the subject. Why does he care so much? "I was just curious who it was."

"Well, she was lying," I say defensively. "I didn't tell her who I liked."

"Aha!" He exclaims. "So you do have a crush! Who is it?"

"Nobody!" I groan, frustrated. I cover my eyes with my hand, trying to calm down. If I don't, I'll probably end up blurting out that I have a crush on him, and that would be disastrous.

"Don't worry, Cassie," Luke reassures. "I'll find out eventually."

I hope that he never does.
