Winter break flew by, and before I knew it Christmas was just around the corner. I spent nearly every day hanging out with Luke, and when I wasn't with him I spent my time with Alyssa. The bonfires were put on hold because it was just too cold, but we still found time to hang out.

The Mrs. Jacobson invited me and my mother over for Christmas dinner, but it would be just the two of us for the morning. But until then, Alyssa and I still had some shopping to do.

"You're possibly the only person I know who thinks Christmas shopping is easy," Alyssa whined as she looked through the racks of clothing. This had to have been at least the sixth store we had been in, and Alyssa was still empty-handed.

I shrugged. "I just get people what I think they would buy themselves."

"I know, but it's so much easier said than done. How am I supposed to know what my 14-year-old brother would buy himself? That kid is weird as hell."

I laughed as I pulled a shirt of the rack, inspecting it before putting it back. We were currently scouring through the local Hot Topic; I was looking for some band shirts for Luke and Alyssa was still looking for ideas.

"Well, what does he like? What kind of music does he listen to? What's his favorite movie?" I said, spouting out questions.

"Okay, okay, I get it. Let's just finish shopping so we can go eat."

I laughed before picking out some shirts and heading to the checkout line.

Once we had made our purchases, we walked out of the store and across the mall to the food court. Once in line for Dairy Queen, I ordered a dipped cone while Alyssa went for an Oreo blizzard.

"So," she asked with a smirk as we sate down with our ice cream. "How's everything with Luke?"

I smiled, a slight blush heating up my cheeks. "Perfect. He's so sweet and funny and it's just so great."

Alyssa laughed. "You're clearly smitten, and I can see why." I slapped her arm but she only laughed harder. "So, are you two official yet?"

I shrugged. "We haven't really talked about the whole girlfriend/boyfriend thing yet. I mean, he hasn't asked me."

"So why don't you ask him? Come on, you're a strong independent woman. Take control of your relationship."

I laughed. "Maybe I will. I don't know, I just figure that there's no need to rush it. It'll happen when it happens, I'm just gonna enjoy it all."

Alyssa nodded as she spooned some ice cream into her mouth. "Good. Too many people get too caught up in the labels and everything and they forget to just appreciate what they have."
