"Are you kidding me?" Alyssa asked as we walked through the mall.
I sighed. "I wish."
It was the day after the bonfire at Jack's, and Alyssa and I were currently scouring the mall looking for a birthday present.
"How could that just slip your mind?"
I groaned, throwing my head back and closing my eyes. "It's just with everything going on with school and finals coming up and the concert in a few days, I just... forgot."
"But it's Luke's birthday! How could you forget that?"
I glared at her. "I know, it's just... could you just help me pick out a present?"
"What are best friends for?"
We continued through the building, passing store after store without much luck. I didn't really have any ideas for what to get him; I was just hoping I would be able to spot something that would work, but we hadn't had much luck.
"What do you get a guy for his birthday?" I asked, frustrated.
"I mean, you should know what he likes, you've known him for like seven years."
"Yeah, but what can I buy him that he doesn't already have?"
We walked passed store after store, but I still had no idea what to get him. Clothes were out of the option; he basically wore the same thing everyday and I didn't know his size. He didn't really like books, not a huge cars or sports fan.
We were both getting tired of walking up and down the mall.
"What about music? What bands does he like?" Alyssa asked as we passed Hot Topic. I looked in through the door, looking at the various band shirts and various merch.
"He does like that one singer..." I trailed off as I thought of the perfect gift.
"I hope you just thought of what to get him and that's why you're making that face. My feet are killing me and I'm not about to do another lap." Alyssa complained as she plopped down on one of the mall benches.
I laughed. "Yes, I jus thought of the perfect gift. You can finally be relieved of your best friend duties."
"Thank god," she sighed. "Who knew being you best friend would be so tiring?"
I laughed and slapped her arm as we walked out of the mall together.
