"Guys, we really need to focus, today is an important day and we have absolutely no time to waste!"
To say Mr. Jones was frazzled would be a huge understatement.
While most students were spending a lot of their time preparing for the upcoming final exams, we also had tonight's winter concert to worry about. Sure, we had pretty much mastered the songs already, but that didn't stop everyone from being nervous.
"I swear, if Mr. Jones is this stressed about every concert this year, he'll start spouting gray hairs," Alyssa whispered from her spot next to me.
I didn't even have time to laugh before Mr. Jones had already started conducting the next song and my focus was back on the music.

I spun the radio dial, not sure which station to stay on, though the glare from Luke told me I better pick one fast.
"Are you nervous about the concert tonight?" I asked him as I released the dial, settling for a country station.
He laughed. "What do I have to be nervous for? I'm in the percussion section, it's just hitting things."
He may have just waved it off, but I knew Luke had a bigger job than just 'hitting things.' He was the leader of his section, and Mr. Jones trusted him with the most important parts and solos. He played a crucial role, whether he accepted it or not.
"What about you?" He asked, looking at me for a second before his gaze went back to the road.
I thought about it for a second before shaking my head. "No, not really. We've played through it so many times, I'm pretty sure I have it memorized. Plus, I have the rest of the flute section to back me up."
Luke nodded in understanding. "As long as everything goes as planned, we should be good."
