"Finally!" Whined Alyssa as she sat next to me, taking out her flute.
It was Friday, the last day of school before it was officially Thanksgiving break, and I was more than ready for the time off school.
"Alright, alright, everyone quiet down," Mr. Jones called. It was obvious that nobody was in the mood to focus, the impending vacation time making us all anxious to get out of school. "It might be break soon, but we still have a concert coming up in a few weeks."
The pieces of music were coming along great. Chloe came in every once in a while to sing the choir part, and she was amazing. Our concert was sometime in the middle December, and everyone was excited to hear what everything sounded like in the end.
After tuning and playing through each song, the period was soon over and the bell had rung. Alyssa and I chatted as we packed up, but she had to hurry because her class was on the other side of campus.
I was placing my case in my locker and didn't realize the presence behind me.
"Boo."
I must've jumped a few feet in the air and whirled around to see Luke bent over laughing.
I slapped his shoulder with my hand. "Don't do that! I almost had a heart attack!"
Once Luke had sobered up a bit, he slung an arm around my shoulder and we started to walk out of the classroom.
"So, what do you and your mom have planned for thanksgiving?" He asked as we walked.
"I'm pretty sure it's just the two of us. We'll probably have some turkey or something, just a dinner. Why?" I looked up at him, furrowing my eyebrows.
He smiled down at me. "Well, my mom figured that because we don't have any family coming over this year and we're not going anywhere, you and your mom could come over."
My lips split into a grin. "I'll ask her today, but I'm sure she'll say yes."
"Great, just let me know later." He removed his arm from my shoulders, where I had forgot it even was. "See you later, Cassie," he said with a wave and walked off into his next class.
Let's just say I had a grin on my face all the way to history.
