Annabeth's POV
When we finally managed to get downstairs, Percy and I see both Paul and Sally sitting at the dining table. That causes a frown to make its way onto Percy's face and my morphed into a confused expression.
"Aren't you suppose to be teaching?" Percy asked Paul the question we were both thinking.
"Aren't you suppose to be in school?" Paul asked back.
My eyes widened and I felt all the blood completely drain from my face. I was so wrapped up in everything happening with Rob and Rachel that I forgot all about school. That's not good. That's really not good. If I get too far behind, Harvard School of Design won't except me, so I won't be able to go there. If I don't go there then I won't be able to be the best architect I want to be and get to build something permanent. Everything in my life has always been temporarily; my parents, Rob's parental love, and my friends. Yeah, we're friends again but I've been alone for so long that I forget that I have people here now, but even they will be gone someday and I'll be left alone again. That's why I want to build something permanent, so at least one thing in life will be there.
I don't realize it in the midst of my worry, but I started to hyperventilate. I feel someone's hand on my shoulder.
"Annabeth," They whisper, "It's okay, you've just got to calm down."
I manage to control my breathing after a few minutes, and then I ask frantically all in one breath, "Can we catch up? Are we considered truant? Will we be expelled from Goode?"
Paul chuckles a bit before replying. "You are not a truant, Annabeth, and you most certainly will not be expelled. Considering what's happened in your life, they would have no right even if they tried to expel you. As for the work you both missed, I have it all with me right here. It's all due Monday."
I let out a breath of relief and then mentally counted how many days we had. When I figured it out I gasped.
"But that's only three days to do it!" I protested.
"You're a smart girl, Annabeth. I'm sure you'll be able to complete it in time," Paul kindly tells me, only soothing my nerves a little bit.
"What about be?" Percy asked.
"What about you?" Paul asked back.
"Why do you keep answering my question with another question?" Percy whined.
"Because it bothers you," Paul chirped with a wink in my direction that makes me laugh.
Percy stuck out his tongue out at Paul but didn't bother answering him.
"How am I suppose to finish a months worth of homework in three days?" Percy chose to ask instead.
"Work night and day?" Sally suggests with a smirk.
"That's not funny," Percy deadpanned.
"Oh, but my dear son, it is," Sally teased him.
Percy pouted which called me to roll my eyes at him.
"I'll help you with it, Seaweed Brain," I appeased him with a laugh.
Percy's eyes lit up like a Christmas Tree. "You will?" He questioned with a child-like excitement clouding his face.
I throw my head back with a hearty-laugh. "Of course I will."
Percy pecked my lips before engulfing me in a hug. "Thank you, Wise Girl!"
"Awe!" Sally cooed at us. "You two make such a cute couple!"
I could feel my face heat up. Traitor.
"So you guys are a couple!" I think the correct term for what Sally is doing is 'fangirling'. "I KNEW IT!"
I turn around in Percy's arms and hide my face into his chest. I think I saw Percy's face get a little red, too.
"I um..." Percy stuttered. "I think we're going to go and get a start on our work."
Percy grabbed all of our work with one hand with his arm around my waist and my face still buried in his chest. After he got all of the papers situated, we done this awkward walk to the stairs where he would walk a few steps and try and make sure I didn't all over backwards.
Once we got to the stairs, though, Percy let go of me, bent down and wrapped his arm around the back of my knees. He stood up like that and threw me over his shoulder.
"Ah," He mused, "Much better."
"Percy!" I pounded on his back a little bit, but not too hard. "Put me down!"
"You know what, Wise Girl?" I could practically hear Percy smirk. "I don't think I will."
____________________________
I feel like that was a good place to end the chapter. I could've gone on for days with their adorableness, but, unfortunately, I don't have time. That's why it's so short.
I realized earlier today, that this story is going to be coming to an end pretty soon, and that makes me really sad. So, I started coming up with a sequel. I have a name for it and everything, but I can't tell you guys yet because that might (probably not) spoil the end of this book. I'm still working out how I want it to go, but I can almost guarantee a sequel :D
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! So Merry-almost-Christmas to you all! And happy whatever you celebrate if you don't celebrate Christmas. And if you don't celebrate anything, than I hope you at least have a good week <3
Thanks for reading. Please don't forget to vote and comment :D
