Annabeth's POV
"Woah" I say as I enter Percy's apartment. As you walk into the through the door you are in living room. Which is pretty big, I might add. There was a flat screen TV that looked like a 50 inch, it sat on a tall, wooden coffee table that was absolutely beautiful. It looked like one of those coffee tables that would be in a log cabin. The walls were very light brown. On the other side of the room from the TV, there was a dark brown L shaped leather couch.
Coming from the kitchen was the smell of homemade cookies. As we entered the kitchen, I saw a middle aged woman with brown hair. She looked up at us with a huge smile.
She wiped her hands on the blue-stripes apron, and then she opened her arms and gave me a big hug. "I'm Sally, Percy's Mom. You must be Annabeth"
It took all I had to not groan out in pain, where my ribs are bruised.
"Yes ma'am" I say quietly.
Sally waved her hand in front of her face, as if waving off a compliment, "Just call me Sally, dear. Calling me ma'am makes me feel old," She said with a laugh.
"Alright, Sally." I say with a small chuckle.
Sally turned her attention to her son standing behind me. "Percy, go show Annabeth to her room, and make sure she gets settled in. Supper should be ready in 20 minutes, and I made cookies for later on." Sally said to him.
"Blue cookies?" Percy asked with a childish look on his face that almost made me laugh out loud.
"Blue Chocolate Chip Cookies" Sally clarified with a small nod of her head and, judging by her her smile and how she's holding her bottom lip with her teeth, she's trying not to laugh.
The look on Percy's face when she said that actually made me laugh until tears were streaming down my face. Percy looked so much like a child on Christmas it shouldn't be funny. Percy's expression changed when he saw both his mother and I laughing at him, he looked so confused. And his eyes sparkled a certain way. They were so cute. Then, unwillingly, my gaze dropped down to his lips.
They looked so soft and kissable.
Stop, I tell myself, he just wants to be friends, nothing more.
But, oh, his lips.
Stop it.
His beautiful green eyes.
You can't think about that.
And his soft-looking black hair.
Uh-oh, I'm gonna be in trouble if I can't control my thoughts.
*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*
The room Percy showed me to had light blue walls, a chestnut desk near the door, and there was an unmade bed at the back of the room. There's dirty clothes (well I'm assuming they're dirty anyway) in a pile beside the bed. Pictures of Percy, Sally, and Mr.Blofis hung up on the walls. There was one of just Percy and Mr.Blofis in front of some sort of cabin that looked like it was on a beach.
I looked over at Percy just in time to see his face flush red.
"Oh, um, yeah, this is my, um, room" He nervously stutters when he realized that this was not the guest room, but his room.
I throw my head back laughing at his embarrassment. But then I looked at his embarrassed face and immediately felt bad.
"So, did you show me your room just in case I need something?" I offer him as an excuse.
Relief washed over his face and he quickly agrees with me, "Yep, um, yeah, that's why"
"Are you going to show me to the guest room, or am I gonna have to find it myself?" I tease him when he doesn't move.
"Oh, right, it's this way" He leads me a door just down the hall.
I took a step into the room and look around. The walls were a darkish gray color. There was a desk in here also, it looked just like the one in Percy's room. The comforter was a light purple with some weird designs on it in dark purple. There was some throw pillows on it too.
I turned to Percy with a look if awe on my face. "The room is beautiful" I tell him.
"I'm glad you like it" Percy told me, but not like he is trying to be polite. He said it like it made him genuinely happier that I like it.
I feel my face heat up when I realized how close we were. If one of us moved a centimeter forward we'd be touching. I looked up into his eyes, realizing for the first time how much taller he was than me. He must be at least 6 ft, maybe more, and I was only 5 ft and 4 inches. That's quite a difference.
Maybe it was just my imagination, but I thought I saw Percy leaning down a bit. My breath hitched involuntarily. We both started getting closer and closer, so I knew that it wasn't my imagination. Suddenly, our lips were only inches apart...
"Dinner's ready!" I heard Sally shout. At the sound of her voice, both Percy and I jumped back a few feet. Our faces resembling tomatoes.
We both hurried down to eat. You'd think it would've been awkward between us, but it wasn't. The only thing that was different, was that neither one of us could look each other in the eyes. When dinner was over, we set our dishes in the sink and we both of us practically sprinted to our own bedrooms for the night.
As I fell asleep, I kept going over different scenarios in my head about what would've happened if Sally hadn't interrupted us.
Right before I slipped into a fitful slumber, my last thought was:
Did Percy Jackson like me like I like him?
