The story of my life: reinvented

Chapter four

We were on our way to katelynn's house. We made sure to keep a lookout for mutants and other creatures.
Kat: This is so cool!!
Jacob: What is?
Kat: Having superpowers, duh!!
Austin chuckles.
Kat: What are you laughing at?
Austin: You.
Rach: Enough you two. Especially you Austin. I won't tolerate any arguing or fighting on this trip.
Austin just rolls his eyes. I just keep going on about how cool it is.
Kat: But seriously how did this happen? I mean, how are we still alive?
Zek: Maybe we're supposed to survive. Maybe we're meant to live.
Jacob: I honestly don't know and I don't care, all I care about is getting to our destination.
Ari: I need water.
Kat: Me too.
Rach: Me three.
Jacob: Okay, okay. We'll stop at a convenience store, then back on the road.
Once we got to the closest convenience store, we made sure to stay quiet so we wouldn't attract mutants. Jacob and zek stayed out front, and me, Rach, Ari, and Austin got drinks, food, and supplies that we needed. But Austin couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted.
Kat: Austin, hurry the fuck up!
Austin: Give me a second!
Kat: We don't have a second!!!
Then we heard yelling outside.
Jacob: Guys, we got company!!!!
Zek: Hurry up!!!
Kat: Come on guys!!
We grabbed what we needed and went outside. The store was surrounded with all kinds of mutants, even zombies. We all started using our powers to kill each and every one of them. One jumped onto Arianna and I shot it off of her. Jacob and zek were back to back fighting the mutants. Jacob used his ability to teleport to confuse the mutant and went behind and smashed it's head in. Zek used his ability to copy powers and copied Rachel's. He transformed into a werewolf and tore apart everything in his path. One almost jumped on me but Austin pushed it away before it could reach me. I looked at him with relief and gratitude. But there were too many of them. They were closing in on us.
Kat: Rachel, transform into something that can carry all of us out of here!!
She nodded and she transformed into the biggest animal I've ever seen. I wasn't even sure what it was, but we all climbed on and when I actually looked at it, I realized what it was. A dragon. I was in shock, but amazed at the same time. She flew up into the air and breathed fire on all the mutants and zombies.
Kay: Good job Rach, now fly us to katelynns house.
When we got there, zek busted the door open this time. But the house was empty. We checked all the rooms and the backyard but nothing. There was only one place we hadn't checked. The cellar. Somebody had locked it from the inside. Jacob bust it open and I went in, while Rach, zek, and Ari followed and Jacob and Austin stood guard. It was really dark. Then all of a sudden, I heard something. Whimpering, crying of some sort. Rachel must've read my mind because she transformed into a flashlight right before I asked her to.
Kat: Katelynn? Is that you?
Person: Whose there?
Kat: It's Katie. I'm here with Jacob, Rachel, Zek, Austin, and Arianna. Where are you?
She came out from where she was hiding and looked like she'd been crying a marathon. She ran up to me and hugged me while crying at the same time.
Katelynn: I'm so glad you guys are okay.
Rachel transformed back into herself.
Rach: Us? What about you? Katie...
She looked at me and restarted.
Rach: We were worried sick.
Katelynn just looked at me, then Rachel, then back at me. She looked confused.
Kat: If you're confused about how she did that, we'll explain later. Let's just get you out of here. Are you okay?
Katelynn: Yea, I think so.
Kat: Okay, let's go.
We climbed back up the steps of the cellar, and Jacob and Austin helped us out. Katelynn gave everyone a hug.
Katelynn: Does anyone know what happened?
Ari: Nope.
Katelynn sighs and she starts breaking down in tears.
Katelynn: My parents. They're dead. I found them in the backyard behind one of the rocks. Something ate them alive.
I just look down.
Kat: I'm so sorry katelynn. My parents are dead too, and so are Jacobs.
Zek: I don't know where mine are.
Rach: Me neither.
Austin: Same here.
Ari: Same.
The room gets really silent. Then I try to change the subject.
Kat: Where should we set up camp. It's almost midnight.
Jacob: We could set up camp here.
Zek: That works.
Ari: Yea, I'd rather not go back out there.
Rach: Then it's settled, we'll set up here.
