Chapter nine

10 days had passed and I was still mad at Austin.
Why did we have to travel all the way to DC? Why couldn't they be in Las Vegas, I thought to myself as we walked through Denver, Colorado.
Katelynn: Let's stop and get some rest.
Ari: I.... Agree...
Kat: All I know is I need water.
Zek: Same.
Austin: Me too.
I just rolled my eyes.
Kat: Okay, well camp at a hotel then wake up early and get going.
Zek: Really babe? A hotel?
Kat: Fine! Where do you suggest we camp?
Ari: Ummm... Okay... I think we should set up at a Walmart... We'll have power, food, and water.
Katelynn: Good idea Arianna. Katie, fly up and find a Walmart.
Kat: Ugh... Fine.
I flew up into the sky and found one that was only a couple blocks away. But then something else caught my eye. Something that I've never seen before. Something that looked mythical. Then I realized it could only be one thing. Rachel! She must've gotten away from the guy who took them. She was flying at such a fast speed, that when she got to me, she almost knocked me out of the air. She shape shifted back into herself and I put her down on the ground. Everyone gave her a hug, and I was last. I was so glad to have Rachel back.
Kat: What happened to you!?
Zek: Where have you been!?
Katelynn: We were worried sick!!
Ari: How did you escape!?
Rach: Okay okay! Calm down you guys!! I can only answer so many questions at a time!
Rach: So when you guys went into Walmart, we were scoping out the area per usual. But I came across something that looked very strange, so I went to check it out. Jacob saw where I was going and followed me and then Dalton followed him. Idiot. And the next thing i know, I was trapped in a net and so was Jacob and Dalton. And no, we didn't find out who the voice was, so don't ask. Anyways on the way to DC I heard the guys that captured us talking so I turned into a bat and listened to their conversation very carefully and there were talking about how the "boss man" is gonna turn us into weapons! So I quickly found a way out of the net when we got there, but my foot was still caught in it. They saw me trying to escape and grabbed me. Fortunately, I transformed into a hippogriff just in time.... Unfortunately, I didn't have time to save Jacob and Dalton.
She looked down and I could see her get sad.
Ari: What's a hippogriff?
Kat: It's a mythical animal that looks like a bird but is bigger and more dangerous.
Ari: Awesome!!
Kat: Yea...
Austin: So were there any Walmarts that you saw up there? Or Are we just gonna focus on Rachel.
I looked at Austin with anger.
Kat: Why do you have to go and say things like that Austin!!?? You make me so mad sometimes!!!
Austin: Me? What about you!? You make me mad every single fucking day!!! It's no wonder your boyfriend hates you now...
The group went silent.
Zek: Katie, I'm sure he did not mean that!! Please don't take it personal. I just feel like we fight a lot.
I tried to keep myself from crying, but it wasn't working... Tears started falling down my face.
Kat: You know what? I'm done with this group we call friends. Just forget it Zek, it's over.
I ran away crying and Rachel followed me making sure I didn't break anything.
Zek: Austin!!!! Why would you fucking say that!!!????
Zek threw him against a building wall and just walked away. Katelynn checked to see if he was okay, but he was unconscious.
In the meantime, Rachel followed me after I ran away and stopped me from breaking anything. I wish she hadn't though.
Rach: Katie!!!!! Wait up!!!
Kat: Just leave me alone Rachel.
Rach: No! I won't leave you until you come back...
I stopped for a minute and turned around.
Rachel was just standing there, waiting for me to respond. But I was still crying.
Kat: Why would you even want be back? (Sobbing) All I ever do is make things worse!! Just go without me!! I'm useless!!!
Rachel walked up to me and put her hands on my shoulders. I looked up and she can tell that there was more to it.
Rach: You are not useless, we need you Katie... We love you. If it weren't for you, we'd probly all be dead by now...
She wipes some of the tears off my face.
Rach: So please Katie, stay with us. We need you. Without you, were useless. Please?
Kat: I don't really know right now. I just need to clear my head.
Rach: Can you do it on the way back? It's getting dark out and we need a place to camp.
Kat: Yea, I guess.
Rach: Thanks boo.
Kat: You're welcome.
On the way back to the group I tried to forget about all the drama in my head, but it wouldn't go away. I kept thinking about it over and over again. When we got back to the group, Austin was awake again and both him and zek stared at me in silence. I didn't say a word to them because I didn't wanna start any more drama. They tried to talk to me several times, but I cut them off every time. Either that or I walked away.
Kat: So I did find a Walmart that's about three blocks from here. That's the closest one to us.
Ari: Okay, let's go then.
Rach: Okay.
The entire trip there was dead silence.
