Chapter thirteen

'So I'm a vampire now... Cool.' I think to myself as I lie there with zek. He shifts and I don't move. I fall back asleep and the next thing I know it's morning. It's around 5:00 when we wake up. We all get up and Austin parks the van.
Rachel: Whats going on?
Austin: We ran out of gas.
Jacob: Youre joking right?
Austin: No, I'm not. Everyone out so we can figure this out.
I walk out and see the sunrise.
'It's so beautiful!' I think to myself.
'But not as beautiful as you.'
Zek walks up behind me and puts his arms around me.
'He can hear my thoughts? Oh wait, the copycat spell, I forgot.'
'You forgot I can copy anything I want?'
'Yea, I did for a moment. Remember I can't remember anything these days?'
'Yea, I do. But I remember everything.'
We both smile like idiots.
Jacob: Come on you two. We need to stay together.
Katie: Coming!!
We hold hands as we walk over to where they are. But zek gets in front of me and stops me. He looks at me as if something is wrong.
Katie: Zek, what is it?
Zek: Katie, I know we haven't been dating that long, but I feel like if I don't do this right here, right now... I might not get another chance.
Katie: What are you talking about?
The whole group is just staring at me, including zek. He gets down on one knee and pulls out a tiny, little box that has a velvet cover on it.
Zek: Katie...
Katie: Yes?
I try not to freak out as he continues.
Zek: Will you make me the happiest man alive... And marry me?
I cover my mouth. It feels as though I am floating.
Katie: Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes. A thousand times yes.
He stands up and hugs me until I can't breathe. Then he puts the ring on my finger and I jump into his arms. When he puts me down, Rachel, Arianna, and katelynn run over to me and hug me.
Rachel: Omg, congratulations boo!!!!
Ari: Congratulations!!!
Katelynn: Congrats Katie!
Katie: Thank you guys so much!

Jacobs perspective:

'Well I guess nows as good a time as any.'
I walk over to Rachel and turn her around. She looks at me blankly. I get down on one knee and take out a box that I've been keeping in my jacket.
Jacob: And Rachel...
She covers her mouth with excitement.
Rachel: Yes?
Jacob: Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?
Rachel: Oh my god, YES!!!
I stand up and put the ring on her finger and she jumps into my arms. I spin her around and then put her down and kiss her. Then Katie, katelynn, and Arianna ran over to her and did the same thing they did for Katie. Me, zek, Austin, and Arthur just stand there looking at them in admiration.
Jacob: Nows your chance buddy...
Arthur: Not yet bro, not yet.
Arianna looks at Arthur with happiness and love.
Jacob: Okay... Your choice.
Austin: Okay, now let's figure out how were gonna get to DC. The next towns not for another 800 miles.
Rachel: We could fly. I could shape shift into something that can carry all of you.
Jacob: But I don't want you to get tired.
Rachel looked at me like she was annoyed with me.
Katie: That's not a bad idea. What were you thinking rach?
Rachel: Would a dragon work?
Katie: Maybe, if you make it big enough to where we can all get on.
I looked at katie with anger, but she didn't care. Neither did Rachel apparently, because the next minute we were backing away from her. She was transforming into a white dragon with blue eyes, and it was the biggest dragon I've ever seen. We all got on and she took off. The wind was blowing trough my hair and ears, and it was extremely loud at first. But once we got high enough in the atmosphere, it wasn't as deafening. I could actually here my friends talking to one another.
Katie was talking to zek about how she wasn't expecting his proposal at all, and Rachel was talking to me about how she wasn't expecting it. All seemed well, until we started to fall. Rachel was losing her strength. We landed on the ground really hard and we were all separated. I ran over to Rachel and she was curled up in a ball. I picked her up and brought her to the others. I could feel her pain coming through my chest. It hurt. She felt really weak.
Jacob: We need a new plan.
I put her down on the grass and they all looked at me.
