When they were in Tartarus, the only thing that kept Annabeth together was the feeling of Percy's heartbeat. Later in life, whenever Annabeth was angry, sad or terrified, Percy just grabbed her hand gently and held it to his chest. This way she could feel his heart beating, and was able to calm down.
