"Lana, we've got to record the song and get everything set for the movie, please be on time, love" James said on the phone. He called me at 9 in the morning. I picked up thinking it was something urgent, only to find out it was about his new movie. I wasn't really interested in his movie whatsoever but I couldn't say no and to him when he offered me to sing the theme song, it'll be a new experience I thought, something I won't forget besides how could I say no to him.
James told me to come to meet the director of the movie who'll be at the studio to tell me the plot of the movie so I could write the lyrics accordingly.
I was excited nevertheless to meet the director and find out what the movie was all about, James was quite passionate about it which made me more curious to find out.
Tossing and turning in the bed, I decided to get up, I got dressed wearing my gold chain paired with a red sundress and my light golden booties. I went downstairs grabbing my car keys and went out the door, starting my car, I switched on the radio. With puffy eyes, I reached the coffee shop and ordered my usual order: A red velvet cupcake with cold coffee. It started drizzling outside as I sat in the coffee shop, staring out the glass window. Watching the cars go by I lost myself in the lights flashing in front of me, the effect it had of its own when I saw the lights through a glass window, looking like watercolors splashing on the window. Above the clouds hovered and lighting flashed in front of me, the clouds darkened. In a matter of minutes, the drizzling changed to heavy drops of rain. The roads weren't so crowded at early morning, a few cars would pass by once in a while and the lights would flash me in the eyes. After hours of staring the lights and listening to the thunder, I realized how pleasant the weather was before and how suddenly it became so different - That was the case with my life, one moment it was beautiful almost unbelievable and the next moment it would be something you never wanted in your life.
It's amazing how everything changes in a few moments but what I never realized is that, the weather builds up, the clouds slowly gather to form a storm, the clouds take time to gather, then comes the storm. The same clouds take time to go away, to make the skies clear again.
Where the clouds were the problems and the storms were the heartaches.
The clear skies would be the pleasant moments.
The rain would be my tears.
And the rain would only come when the clouds will gather.
I checked my wrist watch and the time read 12:45, I grabbed my bag and payed the tab. Once settled in the car, I drove to the studio, parking my car, I got out with my umbrella in hand, I walked in the studio.
"Hi John, good to see you" I greeted. "Hi Lana, the director is waiting for you in room 4" he pointed towards the room. "Oh thanks" I blurted as I walked towards the room.
"Clarie" I exclaimed.
"Hello Landla, nice to see you, I am the director for James's new movie, I am sure it will be a pleasure to work with you" Her tone was professional today without even a slightest hint of anger or hatred. "James never told me you were the dire-" "Is there a problem?" She questioned raising an eyebrow. "No of course not" I tried my best to sweeten my tone. "Well, I don't think we should get anymore late than we already are, considering you came 20 minutes late already" She said with a thin smile.
Damn you, James, for putting two women who hate each other in the same room.
"Here is the script" she said handing me the papers. "It's a romantic tragedy" she continued "A remake of Romeo and Juliet but in the modern time" she said looking in my eyes "Okay, thank you" I said as I took hold of the papers. "Clarie..." I trailed off "Why do you always act this way?" I asked her frowning. "What way?" she asked me as if she was unaware of the amount of hatred in the room. "I understand you dated James, but it was long time ago, just because he is with me doesn't mean you treat me as if I have stolen him from you" I bluntly said. "Landla, just record the song for the movie right now, I'll talk to you after this song is done" she said turning her back towards me. "I am not doing this song for you, I am doing this for James" I replied back, my tone raising. "I know, good day Miss Ellen" she walked out the door as I stood there with pure anger taking over me. What was her problem was all that to my mind, I was by far too sure by now, she was in love with James.
She was too bad at hiding her feelings, you could see right through her what she wanted to say but never did.
I held the papers in a tight grip and went out the door. "Lana, do you need any help, should I call any other songwriter to help you plot the lyrics?" John questioned me as I walked towards the exit door. "No I'm fine, I got this" I smiled at him "Sure?" he asked again. "Sure" I assured him, with an even bigger smile.
Opening my umbrella, the walked towards the car and drove to my house. The weather was beautiful, there was a light drizzle and the skies had cleared which I thought was perfect so I sat in my backyard porch, under the shade of the balcony and started reading the script.
