Luke
Age: 15
You looked out of the wings, sighing as you saw your whole family here, but your dad. Your uncle Ben gave you a thumbs up when he saw your head peep out. Your parents was divorced and he was only around when he wanted to be, unlike your uncles who spend as much time with you as they possibly came, like your Grandma Liz and Grandpa Andy. Your mum still had a good relationship with your dads side of the family, but they just fell out of love.
"Now to the stage Y/N Hemmings." the announcer called out your name. You walked out, your family cheering as loud as they could. Your tight black costume against your body. Your hands fumbled lightly with the chains on it. You had your hair in this crazy hair do that you mum had did that was made up of twists and braids.
You got onto your knees, placing your arms out to the sides beside your body and bending over.
The music started, it just being beats, drops, and slight bit of drums in it too.
It got to this part that you had trouble with, and your mum knew. It was where you slid onto the front in a front split, having your stomach facing the floor.
You couldn't get your pelvic bone to reach the floor like your teacher wanted.
The part happened and you heard you mum cheering as you went onto the ground.
The song ended and you finished dancing.
You walked off stage and into the wings where your team mates was standing, congratulating you.
Awards was happening next and you sat on the stage with your team, smiling as you and your normal duet partner was the last two standing for your solos.
Her name was called for second place. This made your uncles and mum jump up cheering as your name was called for first.
"And in first place, Y/N Hemmings! We'd also like to award Y/N with a Expressive Heart Award. What Y/N has is truly humbling and amazing. We just hope she never loses it." You smiled as you got the award and was crowned.
You ran off of the stage and through the back doors where you whole family was standing.
"You did so good babygirl!" Your mum exclaimed picking you up.
"You did!" Jack smiled at you.
"I just wish dad was here." You sighed, making everyone fall silent.
Your grandma let out a little grunt, making you lift your head off of your mums shoulders, seeing the blond dad of yours shuffling his feet looking at the ground. You shimmed out of your mums arms, walking away from your family as you started tearing up.
He knew how much this meant to you and he couldn't even have the decency to show up for his own child.
"Y/N wait!" He shouted behind you, you suddenly stopping.
"Why wasn't you here?" You asked lowly.
He looked toward the ground.
"What was you doing? Banging other women?" You asked sarcastically laughing, but your laugh dropped when you saw him slightly nod.
"You asshole. You knew how much this meant to me and how I wanted my own father to be here. But no. He's too busy fucking other women." You sneered at him. Jack walked up to you, placing his hand in your shoulder pulling you away from Luke.
"I'm sorry honey." He sighed.
"Sorry isn't going to cut it this time, Luke."
Calum
Age: 18
It was the last school play you'd ever be in at your highschool.
You sighed as you finished your makeup and grabbing the costume you needed for your part and walking down stairs, seeing your dad and his friends on the couch watching the football game.
"You ready?" Your aunt Mali asked as she walked into the living room from the kitchen with your mum.
"You look beautiful sweetheart. Doesn't she lads?" Your dad asked his friends, making you slightly blush.
"She does Cal." Luke smiled at you. They was like your extended family, especially those three being like your adopted dads, "We have a beautiful daughter." He joked.
"Are you coming?" You bit your lip asking.
"I promise I'll be there before it starts." You nodded hugging the four large men goodbye as your mum told him what time he needed to be there.
"Alright let's go." Your mum ushered you out the door making you laugh.
It was 10 minutes till curtain call. You hands was shaking from nerves.
"Hey. It's okay." Justin smiled. He was your bestfriend, but you'd be kissing him tonight. Your school was recreating High School Musical, and you was playing Gabriella and he was Troy.
"I know. I'm just nervous my dad isn't going to show." You sighed.
He rubbed your back smiling, "He'll be here."
"PLACES!" You heard someone shout making you scatter.
The curtain opened, you instantly scowling not seeing your dad, but that was replaced when you saw Justin walk onto the stage. Everyone was sitting around the made up cabin when you and Justin's characters was being forced to sing together. You walked onto the stage, making people cheer. A lot of people, like your family's friends, knew you could sing, just like your dad, which is why you wanted him to be here so bad.
It got to the part where it was just you on the stage then Justin walking out and you two singing. You looked closer into the audience, seeing Luke and his family, including his parents and brothers, Ashton and his mum, and Michael and his son. Your grandparents also showed up, which shocked you.
The musical ended smoothly like it should have, but Calum never shown up, which hurt your feelings.
You teared up, walking toward your mum and Mali who was standing with everyone else that had showed up for you, who instantly hugged you.
"He promised mum."
