at Brixton City

Anton's POV

I am now standing in front of a big crowd, holding the hand of a beautiful woman who is looking at me with those loving eyes.

"Ladies and gentlemen I would like to thank you all for sharing this night with us. Thank you for being the witness of our engagement." I briefly kissed her lips and the crowd clapped and cheered with our happiness.

"Ms. Daphne Bradford, will you marry me?" I ask the beautiful woman in front of me.

"Yes, I will Mr. Anton Montecarlos." Daphne answered me lovingly and her eyes beams with happiness as I put a diamond engagement ring on her finger. She hugged  and kissed me lovingly. Everyone clapped and cheered again for us.

I look at my girlfriend.......fiancee adoringly. Finally I decided to take  relationship seriously. Daphne is a down to earth woman in spite of her luxurious life. Being the daughter of a famous political parents, Daphne manage to have a simple living. That's what I admired from her since I met her last year.

I met Daphne when I was trying to recover from the broken relationship I had with Eli. I did not went back to my previous ways since she left. I curse the day that I let my immature ways over power me. Because of my stupidity I lost the girl that I loved. I was not even able to tell her that I love her.

Maybe my pride is stronger than my love that it took me a month to decide to follow her in Lawreth City but only to find out that she was gone. She even left the work she tried to defend when I refuse her to go. Maybe that is how deep I hurt her. She can give up the job she longed to have. She ran away again as she used to do and I know she can endure not to see me. That's how she is. Maybe she did not love me at all. I was a fool to think that she already had fallen in love with me.

But every time I remember that night, her sad eyes keeps on haunting me. The way she pleaded for me to let her go really made my heart constrict with pain. She did not got angry with me. How I wish she could just had slapped me that time rather than hearing her pleading to let her go.

I felt guilty that she traveled far just to surprise me, just to be with me. It took me hours to stare on the food she prepared for us that night. I felt guilty thinking the long hours she waited for me and how stupid I was that I intentionally did not answer her numerous calls just because I don't want that my so called friends tease me. I had known from Jane that she called to be sure I am in the city. She even called the mansion to check where I am.

My hands tightly grip the glass of wine I am holding when those memories came back to me. I never told her sorry. Maybe that is why I am still affected by the thought of her. I need to ask for her forgiveness. Maybe that will release the guilt I had been harboring for two years now.

"Honey are you okay?" Daphne briefly kissed my lips.

"Yes, I am fine. Sorry I am just thinking of something."
I slowly walk beside her to check on our guests. I nod and smile trying to remove my sad thoughts, my guilt.

Now I decided to get engage with Daphne. I would really thank Eli for this. She made me look things in my life differently. She opened my eyes that relationship should be taken seriously. She gave me hope that I can change and I made a promise that if I find the right woman in my life, I will be faithful to her.

Now I found Daphne in my life, the woman who accepted my flaws, proposing to her is just the right thing to do. She deserves it. I did not actually told her the whole story about Eli. I just mentioned to her that I made a terrible mistake to a girl I loved and it's too late. She never left my side since then and it just happened so fast. We have chemistry and we find out that we are compatible in so many things. It was a bonus to find out that a possible merger of our companies can be further strengthened by our union.

"Hello Mr. Montecarlos," a beautiful fine middle aged woman approached me with her full smile, "I am Mrs. Alice Finnon, owner and CEO of Finnon company in Aylow City. Congratulations!"

There is something peculiar in the company's name. This is not the first time I encountered it. Well, probably it is a famous company and I encountered it in our branch in Aylow City.

"Thank you," I accepted her hand to shake and lightly kissed her cheeks. She has a strong personality, well poised and a very capable woman in business world where mostly men dominates. I like her.

"Thank you for inviting me in your engagement party as potential new business partner. I know this night is for you and your fiancee but a little spice from our business world won't hurt." I laugh. She's direct to the point. I like it when people won't woo you with fake well wishes then bombard you with business topics as if you are in a meeting. For this woman, I like her charm.

"I will be seeing you in Aylow City. Please attend our annual event  six months from now  for you to have a better view of my company. I will be sending the invitation through your secretary. I hope you can personally come. "

"I will Mrs. Finnon."

"Just call me Alice."

"Anton. Call me Anton."

"Congratulations again Anton."
And she left walking gracefully.
