Never let go

Eli's POV

The celebration is about to end. I see Anton around but thank God he is not approaching me at all. I can't deal with him as of now.

Everything that happened in the past is past now. I should not be affected anymore.

I already promised myself that I have to move on and focus on my career.

Come on Eli you can do it.

Mrs. Finnon approached me and ushered me towards a group of people in the party. "Eli, come lets meet some of the guests. You know most of them from Bob and the team had worked with many of them already. But you should meet Mr. Antonio Montecarlos. We will be attending to his latest projects. I know he will like your ideas."

I froze realizing that I can't avoid him even just for this night.

Be cool Eli. Just be cool.

"Everything alright?" Mrs. Finnon asked as she noticed my apprehension.

"Do not worry. I know Bob taught you well and he will not choose you if you are not the best," she encourages and try to push me a little to the group of Anton. I sheepishly smiled and nod at her, "and anyway you will be in contact more to their assistants and engineers during the project realization."

"Hello!" she greeted the group. "Enjoying the party?" she asked and all the three men and two women agreed with a nod and smile. I recognize all of them. I was able to meet them on some occasions when we were doing some projects with them. The latest one was with Mr. Brazos who owns a real state company. I was able to design some of his houses for a subdivision. He smiled widely and shake my hands.

"Hello my dear Eli. Looking so elegant tonight, huh." He looked at me from head to foot with a smirk on his face. I really don't like this old man.

"Mr. Montecarlos I want you to meet Elizabeth, she will be in charge of the project. I know you will enjoy working with her." Mrs. Finnon address Anton.

Anton smiled at her then to me offering his hand.

" How are you Eli?" I accepted his hand to shake and he squeeze it a little giving tingles to my spine. I felt color rise to my cheeks. I withdraw first my hand as I sense he does not want to let it go.

"I am looking forward working with her," he answered Mrs. Finnon while putting his hands in his pockets.

"I had the pleasure of meeting her and I had seen briefly some of her works before. Too bad you caught her before I was able to run after her." He smiled and look at me. His eyes trying to say something more. I looked down. I don't feel comfortable.
Mixture of hate and lost is starting to build again in my chest. Why he is playing so cool where in fact he cheated me before. All is game for him.

I can play his game too if he insist in doing this to me.

"Oh really!" Mrs. Finnon enthusiastically touch my shoulder.

"That's great!" Yeah great that I have to endure meeting him again and working for him. I don't feel looking forward about it.

"But too bad for you, I never plan letting go one of my best staff." Mrs. Finnon chuckles while touching Anton's arms.

"Well, that's the mistake I made before.......I let her slipped away." Anton look at me sternly. What he just told directly hit my heart. My palms are sweating. I can't speak.

"Really her designs are great, Mr. Montecarlos," Mr. Brazos joined the conversation. Now I am beginning to like this man.

"She designed some of my houses in the subdivision. You can come and visit one day. I'll be happy to show you around."
