"Thank you so much. How did you pay for this?" I said.

"All of the guys chipped in. Now let's set up your schooling thing" he said.

"I hate school. I hate learning. I hate teachers. I hate all the people in school. It's weird how I was in my old school a few weeks ago" I said.

"This is a different type of school. To get full credit for one class, it says you need to take the class for a half hour each day for six months. It says you'll be taking twelve classes this year. It seems like a lot, but guess what? No homework!" he said.

"Yeah. I want to do more classes than that though. I want to do twenty four classes so I can get all my credits done" I said.

"But Jo, that's twelve hours of school for five days for six months. Are you sure?" Sal said.

"Yeah. I think I can handle it" I said.

"Okay. Email them and tell them that" Sal said.

I emailed them telling them that I'll take twenty four classes this year. Damn, that's a lot. They emailed me back in a few minutes.

Dear Josephine,
We feel that it is great that you want to graduate early, but twenty four classes is too many more than you need. You have six credits already, and need forty four to graduate. That means you will only need to take nineteen more classes, which is nine and half hours per day. We hope this helps, and good luck when you decide to start!

"Sal! They emailed me back. I only have to take nineteen classes" I said when I went back upstairs.

"That's very nice, hun" Sal said.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah. It's just that, if you graduate, you're going to college early. I don't want you to leave yet" he said.

"I never said anything about leaving. I'm going to college when I'm ready. I'm not going right when I graduate" I said.

"Really? That makes me feel better, Jo. Thanks" he said.

"Okay d-Sal. Okay Sal" I said.

Was I just about to call him Dad? I couldn't do that yet.

"I'm going to shower" Sal said, changing the subject.

"Me too" I said.

I went to shower. Whenever I shower, I just think. I think a lot about everything that's going on in life. This time, I thought about all of the amazing things that happened after my parents and brother died. The moment I found out they were gone, I thought my life would be over. It wasn't over, it just got better.

I came out of the shower, put on a sweatshirt and leggings, and then looked out the window. The window in my room was pretty big. The view was the front of the house. I saw Sal standing outside on his phone. A few minutes later, I saw the boy from the mall, Leo walking past Sal.

"Hello, Sal" Leo said.

"Hey, Leo. What's up?" Sal said. He sounded irritated.

"Just wanted to know if Jo was here" Leo said.

"No, she's not here right now. Check back another time to steal something" Sal said.

"I promise I will never do that again. Besides, I only did that once. All I tried to take was your shirt when you were drying it outside" Leo said.

Sal never told me that it was only once. Sal is really sensitive, getting upset about just one stupid kid trying to steal a fucking shirt.

"Alright. Well, I have to go. Merry Christmas, kid" Sal said.
