My eyes and mouth were covered, so I couldn't see or scream for help. Once we got into the elevator, the man took off his mask.
"Got you!" Murray screamed.
"Why the fuck would you do that? You scared the fuck out of me!" I said.
He laughed and then hugged me. We left the elevator and started walking down the street.
"Are you excited for the cruise?" I asked.
"Yeah. I'm sure it's going to be really fun. We're going to do a show, there's gonna be comedy acts, games, and all that other cruise stuff" he said.
"Awesome! I can't wait!" I said.
Murray and I walked and talked for a few hours. We also had lunch. Manhattan food is really good. He rode the train home with me and I got back at around 6 pm. The podcast equipment was still on the table when I got back.
"I'm going to sleep. Tomorrow is New Years Eve so I'm gonna stay up the whole night" I said.
"Okay. Good night" Sal said.
The next morning, I woke up to confetti and cheering. Sal and Q were in my room screaming "Happy New Years Eve!" I told them to go away. They did, and then I went back to sleep. I woke up again at 10 am.
I went downstairs, said Happy New Years Eve to Sal, and then went to the basement to get my new laptop.
I took it and went back to my room. I started my first day of online school. I promised myself I would do the full nine and a half hours every day five days a week until my six months are over. Then, I will get my diploma and go to college when I was ready. These were my goals for the New Year.
I started class at 11 am. Sal came into my room with me.
"Why are you coming in here with me?" I asked.
"I want to support you during your first day" he said.
"I think I'll be fine" I laughed.
"I'm still going to sit here. It's not like I'm just gonna leave you" he said.
"If you insist" I said sarcastically.
He sat next to me and helped me for the full nine and a half hours. That was really thoughtful of him. As for the work, it was the easiest thing I've ever done in my life!
I ended the school stuff at almost 8 pm. Q came back and the three of us had our own New Years party.
We were all watching the ball drop on tv and saw Murr.
"Murray didn't tell me he was gonna be there!" Sal screamed when we saw him.
"He told me" Q said.
Q went outside to his car at around 10 pm and got a bunch of beers. Sal drank a little too much.
By 11:30 pm, Q was counting down.
"Thirty more minutes until 2016!" he said.
"I'd like to say a toast. 2015 was an amazing year. Not only was my career going so great, but the end is what made the difference. In the beginning of December, I adopted the most amazing girl in the world. She refuses to call me her dad, even though I am now her father figure. She's so pretty, ambitious, and flat out wonderful to be around. A toast to an awesome year!" Sal said.
Q and I cheered. Sal was a little trippy on his words. He was drunk.
"I'd also like to say a toast to 2015. It was amazing for my career. I made so many friends and fans, even though they are the same thing. I also met my two best friends' daughters. That really changed my life and point of view on things. 2016 will be amazing!" Q said.
Sal and I cheered. I felt like I should give a speech, but I'm not one to say cheesy things like that.
It was one minute until 2016. Sal was still drinking. Q also drank, but not that much.
"Happy New Year!" we all screamed at midnight.
We all hugged each other. Sal couldn't even see where we were. He was so drunk.
"Sal, I really think you should stop drinking right now. You're really drunk" I said.
"Shut the fuck up, Jo. Don't tell me what to do. I can ruin your life and tell you the truth" Sal said.
"What truth?" I screamed.
"About when I --" Sal said when Q covered is mouth.
"Seriously, what is going on?" I said.
"Nothing, Jo. He's really drunk" Q said.
"Somebody tell me what's going on now. I'm not joking" I said.
"I'm taking Sal upstairs so he can sleep" Q said.
"I'm done. I really want to know. I need to know" I said.
Q ignored me and took him upstairs. By 1 am, Sal was sleeping and Q had left. I went upstairs and tried to fall asleep, but I couldn't. I was thinking. About "what I need to know" and "the truth." I'm not going to stop until I find out. That's another goal for the New Year.
