The next day, we went to Long Island to film. They were finishing up punishments, and it was Sal's turn. Joe even let me tell Sal what to say. That was fun. I really stumped him. Afterwards, Sal and I jumped in the car.
"Can I get a ride?" said Q. He was knocking on the window.
"Yeah, sure" Sal said.
Q sat down next to Sal and I moved to the back. Every time Sal said something, Q would look back at me and wink. I smiled back every time he winked.
When we got back home, Q stayed to record a What Say You episode. What was really sweet was that Q asked me to be on it. I refused, mostly because I knew I wasn't that funny. I just went upstairs and played games on my phone while listening to music. Then, I took a shower and went downstairs to Sal.
"What's up?" I said.
"Nothing much. We are getting a delivery just any second" Sal said.
"For what, and how does this thing deliver at 7 pm?" I asked.
"I have no idea. Some nighttime shipping crap. What they're bringing us are exercise machines" Sal said.
"I've always wanted one!" I said. I was actually very excited.
"We're getting a treadmill and an elliptical" Sal said.
"Nice. Are you going to use it?" I asked.
"Probably not. I'm staying heavy forever" he laughed.
"I can use it. I'm not too thin either" I laughed.
The doorbell rang. Sal opened it and brought the machines downstairs. He regretted not kicking Q out so he could help him being the machines down. Eventually, he got them down and I helped him set the machines up.
"They're finally set up. You know what we have to do now, right" he said.
"Yes! Races!" I shouted.
"That's not what I meant, but okay" Sal said.
"Before we do it, what did you mean?" I asked.
"I meant to rest. I'm extremely tired" Sal said.
Sal went on the treadmill first and ran at five miles per hour for two straight minutes. I ran five miles per hour for two and a half straight minutes. I had more energy than Sal.
We slept well because we were so tired.
"Good morning, Sal" I said.
"Hey. Do you want to come filming today?" Sal asked.
"No, thanks. I really want to use the machines" I said.
"Of course. Okay, I've got to go. See you later" Sal said.
He left and I went upstairs to clean my room before I exercised. My room was really messy. Once I was done cleaning, I went to the basement. First, I went on the elliptical for twenty minutes straight. Then, I got bored and went to the treadmill. I ran for five minutes and then made it go faster. I was doing ten miles per hour, and I was out of breath. I was reaching the edge of the machine. Then, I fell. I fell right on my arm and then slid off the machine. The pain was unbearable. I stayed there, lying on the ground. My phone was upstairs, so I had nobody to call. I couldn't lift my left arm. I guess I had to stay here for hours, in this dark basement, until Sal came home.
A few hours of lying on the floor later, I heard the front door open. I didn't have enough energy to scream for him. I guess I'll have to wait until he finds me.
"Jo?" Sal said.
I groaned a little bit, hopeful that Sal would hear.
"Jo! Where are you?" Sal screamed.
Then, I heard him walk down the stairs. I groaned again, even though I saw him.
"Jo, what happened?" he asked.
"I was on the treadmill...fell off onto my arm. I think I broke something" I whispered.
"I'll call an ambulance" he said. He began to dial the number.
The ambulance came quick. They took me to the hospital and brought me to an office. I gained a little energy back from the whole scene.
"According to the x-rays, it appears you broke your left arm" the doctor said.
"So does she need a cast or something?" Sal asked the doctor.
"Of course. Let me go get a mold kit for a fitting for her" the doctor said. He left the office.
"Don't do the treadmill when I'm not home" Sal said.
"Oh, I'm not doing the treadmill ever again, or at least at ten miles per hour" I giggled.
The doctor came back in and took a mold of my arm, up to my elbow. He said the cast will be made in about an hour. By 8 pm, the cast was ready. It was a white-gray color, and I needed to wear it for five weeks. Great.
We went home and I couldn't even sleep in my regular position because of the cast. It was the most uncomfortable night ever.
"Good morning, Jo. How's the cast?" Sal asked me over breakfast.
"Fucking uncomfortable. I have to shower with a plastic bag over my arm and if I have an itch, I can't even scratch it" I complained.
"Don't worry. When I was a kid, I had casts so many times. Let me sign your cast" Sal said. He took a marker and signed my cast.
"I never said thanks for bringing me to the hospital. Thanks, Sal" I said.
"Dad" he coughed.
"The problem with calling you Dad is that you're not my dad" I said.
"Oh, come on! I've always wanted somebody to call me that! I may not be your real father, but can you just call me Dad from now on?" Sal complained.
"Let me think about it. No" I said.
"Ugh. Just get dressed. You're coming to set today, right?" Sal said.
"Yeah, sure" I said.
I ran upstairs and put on a loose t-shirt (to get my cast in the hole) and sweatpants. I looked like a total bum.
When Sal and I got to set, Q, Murr, and Joe all signed my cast. They were just filming a few promos today. It took forever because they kept fooling around.
"Sal, what do I need to know?" I asked on the way back home.
He sighed and didn't respond.
"I promise I won't get upset. Just tell me, please" I whined.
"Stop it, Jo. I'm trying to forget" Sal said.
I stopped talking so that Sal wouldn't get mad. I need to find out. It's killing me.
