I woke up and went downstairs. I ate cereal and I heard Sal's footsteps coming down.
"Hi, sweetie. How are you doing?" he said.
I gave him a dirty look and continued eating. Sal sighed and went to get alcohol from the kitchen counter. He opened it up and started drinking. He drank and drank, it didn't seem to stop. I was honestly getting scared. Sal took the bottle with him back into his room and shut his door.
A while later, the doorbell rang. It was Q, and he looked angry. I left him out there, I had to be tough on even the guys.
"Sal! Jo! Let me in!" Q shouted. He was banging on the door.
I continued watching tv, but I couldn't hear anything with the banging on the door. I had no choice but to let him in.
"Where's Sal?" Q said when he walked in.
"I'm up here" Sal mumbled.
"Well, come down. We have to be at set in ten minutes" Q said.
"I drank a little too much, dude" Sal groaned.
Sal came down the stairs, tripping over almost every step. He still had the bottle in his hand.
"Why would you let him drink all that, Jo?" Q asked.
I shrugged and smiled. Now they couldn't film today.
"She's evil, Q. She killed my parents" Sal muttered.
"No, you did that to her" Q said.
"I know, I know. I caused it. That's why I adopted her" Sal mumbled. Then, he fell down.
"Okay, you're way too drunk. I'll call Joe and Murray. We can't film today" Q said.
I didn't even have to do anything to stop them from filming. This is going great for me. Q went to the kitchen and Sal took a nap on the couch. I went upstairs. I took my laptop and went to their tour website. I waited for tickets to go on sale. Then, I bought hundreds of tickets on Sal's credit card. Now, nobody would show up. I bought thirty tickets in the first few rows to ten shows. The audience will be empty. I do feel a little bit better, but I still live with him only because of the law. This won't even bring my parents back.
I heard Sal coming upstairs while Q was holding him. He took Sal to his room and told me to get him water. Why should I help a terrible person? I refused and shut my door.
A week went by and it was March 8th. Today was the day that I get my college results. I waited downstairs all day for the mailman to come. It was raining, so it would probably take longer. My heart was racing. I really hope I get to go to California.
"Are you okay, honey? You look nervous" Sal said to me.
I looked away and saw the mailman approaching our mailbox. He put an envelope in the box and walked off. I ran outside in the rain, grabbed the envelope, and went back inside.
"What did you pick up?" Sal asked.
I went upstairs to open it up in private. I took deep breaths and I was about to open it, until Sal knocked on the door. I ignored it, until he let himself in.
"I know I've been hiding things from you, but can you share something with me? What's in that envelope? It seems important to you" Sal said.
I walked out and went into the bathroom to open it. I slowly ripped it open and held the paper of the results in my hands. My eyes were closed, but I soon opened them. University of California! They said they'd be happy to have me study there in the beginning of April, the beginning of another semester! That means I only had a few more weeks of hell left! I took the plane ticket that they sent me and put it somewhere that Sal couldn't see it.
I haven't eaten anything all day, and when Sal called me down for dinner, which made me run downstairs. We ate food together, but didn't talk. Spending a little time with him made me sick.
I went upstairs and fell asleep, anxious for what college would be like.
