(Joanne's Point of View)

I groaned as we walked into the maternity ward. After nine months of constantly coming to the hospital I was officially sick of them. Especially in the last month, we'd been here so often it seemed as though we lived here. Joel just gave my hand a squeeze as we walked up to the reception desk at the end of the waiting room.

"Hi, how can I help you?" the receptionist asked in a cheery voice. I smiled at her.

"Hi, we're here for our appointment with Dr Miller? Joanne Peat?" I said. She glanced from me to the computer and tapped a few keys before looking back up at us.

"No problem, she's still with a patient so if you'd like to have a seat and she'll be with you shortly." I smiled as Joel said thanks and we headed over to take a seat. I sighed and leant my head against Joel's shoulder.

"Everything okay?" he asked quietly. I could feel the stares of a few people, obviously recognising Joel from magazines and TV.

"You try being a week overdue and we'll see how you feel." I mumbled. I couldn't believe I was now a week overdue. My due date seemed like ages ago and that late night walk with Erin also felt like ages ago. I'd honestly thought that would have helped to get things started but obviously not.

"I know but we're here now. We'll get the scan and see what's happening." he whispered. I nodded and closed my eyes for a minute. I opened them again when I heard my name being called. I smiled at the doctor and stood up with Joel as we followed her into the room. I glared at the bed I'd have to get on. It was more a cross between a bed and a seat the way it was angled. I heard Joel laugh from beside me.

"Shut up." I muttered and hit him in the chest. I made my way over to it and let Joel help me up onto it. It was so much harder considering the size of me now. I finally got on and shuffled about before I got settled.

"So, a week overdue? Must be getting pretty uncomfortable." Dr Miller said with a small smile as she set up everything. I just let out a tiny laugh.

"Uncomfortable is an understatement." I said. She finally had everything set up and got started on the scan.

"Well we'll see what's going on then after talk about what we'll plan to do." she said. I watched as the screen lit up and our little baby appeared. I never got tired of seeing it to be honest. However, I just wanted him to actually be here so I could finally hold him. "Well everything seems fine. He's in the right position. Looks like he's just a bit stubborn." she said with a laugh. I turned to Joel and glared at him.

"He gets that from you clearly." I said. Joel just looked at me.

"Babe he gets it from both of us." he laughed and kissed my forehead. I got sorted out and we headed into her office so we could talk. Hopefully she'd tell us something useful.

Wait. That's all we'd been told to do at the doctors. Well we were told we had to wait a few more days and if nothing had happened in that time then I'd have to be induced. To be honest the thought of that terrified me a whole lot more. I heard Joel clattering around in the kitchen, tidying up.

"Joel will you please stop! I have a headache and I just want a cuddle." I called through from the living room. He finally stopped and came through and sat next to me.

"I'm sorry. Just trying to keep occupied while we 'wait'." he said, putting air quotes around wait. He was just as annoyed as I was at what we'd been told.
