(Joel's Point of View)

I woke up and rolled over, putting my arm over Joanne's waist, my hand resting on her bump. I couldn't believe how big she was now, that our little boy was in there. I remembered when she just started showing and the bump was so tiny. She squirmed in my arms and turned to face me. I grinned at her and kissed her forehead. She grinned back. Today was her due date so we were pretty excited at the thought of finally being able to meet our little baby boy.

   "Morning gorgeous." I whispered.

"Morning handsome." she said and winked before sitting up in the bed. I sat up with her and we leant against the headboard. "Can you believe at some point today I could go into labour and we'll meet our little boy?" she asked. I shook my head. I genuinely couldn't believe it. It only felt like a few weeks ago we were stood outside, down the very bottom of my parents garden and she told me she was pregnant. Now nine months later and we were here, waiting for any signs that she was in labour.

"I seriously can't." I said quietly. "You'll be a brilliant mum." I smiled and nudged her shoulder. She smiled and nudged mine back.

"Thanks. You'll be the best dad ever." she said.

"So, what's the plan for today?" I asked. We'd agreed we'd just stay in the house today in case anything did happen.

"Well I want to double check I have everything for going into the hospital first." she said and glanced at our bedroom door where the packed holdall was sat, ready for me to grab and take to the car. I laughed at her and she turned to look at me. "What?" she asked.

"You've double checked that bag every single day this week. I think its safe to say we've packed everything we'll need." I said.

"You say that but every time I have double checked it I've found that you've always forgotten something. I mean seriously Joel, you forgot to put clothes in for him to come home in." she pointed out.

"Well you were shouting on me to hurry up so we could go out with Ryan and Erin." I said defensively. She just gave me a look and I laughed before kissing her. "You check the bag if you want, I'm away to go make you something for breakfast." I said as I got out of the bed and walked to the door. I picked up the bag and set it on the bed for her.

"Thank you Joely." she smiled before unzipping it and pulling everything out for the millionth time to check. I made my way downstairs into the kitchen and started pulling stuff out to make breakfast, over the years I'd managed to successfully cook meals for us without burning them. I was in the middle of breakfast when I heard footsteps coming into the kitchen. I turned around and smiled at Joanne. She sat down at the breakfast bar and smiled back.

"So, satisfied everything is packed and ready?" I asked.

"Yes. We have everything in the bag and ready." she said frowning.

"What's with the frown Peat?" I asked with a smile. I headed over to her and set the food down in front of her.

"Nothing, its stupid." she mumbled and took a bite of her breakfast. I sat across from her and grabbed onto her hand, running my thumb across the back of it.

"I doubt it's stupid." I said. She looked up at me with the frown still firmly on her face.

"I'm just scared. I mean now my due date is actually here, I'm a million times more scared to have this baby." she said.
