Chapter Nineteen - Danny Peat

(Joel's Point of View)

   "He's perfect." Joanne mumbled as she watched our baby boy sleeping in his cot. We'd only brought him home a week ago and already he'd had so many visitors. Well mainly our friends seeing as our parents were coming at the weekend instead. 

   "Just like his mum." I said walking into the room and stood behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist. 

   "No way, he's all you Joel. Just a mini you." she smiled and turned in my arms, leaning up to kiss me. She picked up the baby monitor and we headed out the nursery and down the stairs. She dropped onto the sofa and sighed. "I'm so tired!" she whined and leant against me as I sat next to her. 

   "Well that's kind of what happens when we have a baby." I said laughing and cuddled her tightly. It was mostly silent until that was broken by a knock at the door. I let go of Joanne and stood up to go see who it was. I unlocked it and swung it open to see Erin and the boys stood on the steps.

   "You look shattered Joel!" Ryan said with a smirk.

   "I have a one week old son Fletch, of course I'm going to be shattered. You'll know all about it soon enough." I said and gestured to Erin who was grinning down at her baby bump then up at Ryan. She soon stopped and headed into the house to see Joanne. The lads and I headed into the kitchen and I flicked the kettle on. "Babe do you and Erin want a drink?" I called through.

   "Water for me Joel!" Erin replied.

   "I want a cup of tea please Joely." Joanne said. I got all the mugs out and waited, leaning against the counter.

   "So Danny been keeping you both up all night then?" Andy asked. I nodded.

   "You don't know the half of it. One of us gets up with him then an hour later we have to get up again. I'm shattered. I need a decent sleep and so does Joanne." I said.

   "Well that's what happens when you get lucky with your wife." Ryan smirked and I punched his arm.

   "Shut up. You'll be complaining in two months for the same reason." I said. I finished making the drinks and picked up mine and Joanne's mugs while the boys got their own and Ryan got Erin's water. We headed through into the living room where Joanne and Erin were sat and a now awake Danny who was lying in his mums arms quietly.

   "Look who woke up." Joanne smiled. Ever since Danny had been born she had had the biggest smile on her face.

   "He's gorgeous. He will definitely be a little heartbreaker when he's older." Erin laughed.

   "Of course he will. He's got his dad's good looks." Joanne said.

   "Poor little thing looking like Joel." Adam smirked.

  "I know, I mean this here is not a pretty sight." Andy said pointing to my face and laughing. Ryan and Adam both joined in as well and I just stuck my middle finger up at them.

   "Hey that's my husband you're talking about." Joanne said whilst glaring at all three of them. "I should go see if he needs to be changed." she said as Danny started to whimper in her arms. She stood up and headed out the room.

   "I'm gonna go with her." Erin smiled and followed after her.

(Joanne's Point of View)

I gently set Danny down on the changing table and smiled at him.

   "Hey baby boy. Let's get you nice and clean." I said and started to undo his onesie to check his nappy.
