(Erin's Point of View)
A sharp kick to the side of my stomach is what woke me up. I sat up and put a hand on my stomach and frowned. Lately my little girl had been pretty damn active with her kicking. I glanced over to Ryan's side of the bed to find it empty. Probably another early morning for him to go into the studio or something. Since I'd been pregnant I had been forgetting things a lot. I pushed myself up off the bed and made my way downstairs to check my phone. I found a note next to it from Ryan.
Erin, got called into the office so we can organise some things. I'll call you if I'm going to be home late. You and bump have a relaxing day. I love you! Ryan x
I smiled and set the note back down. Even though we knew we were having a girl and we had settled on a name, Ryan still insisted on calling the baby 'bump' which I found pretty cute. I unlocked my phone and tapped on my calendar. I scanned the numbered boxes and smiled when my eye caught the one I was looking for. My due date. It was six days away now. I was so excited but completely terrified as well. I settled myself on the couch, phone in hand and just stared at that little numbered box. I was praying I wouldn't be overdue like Joanne was. I went to sit up but instantly leant back again when I felt a dull ache up my back. I brushed it off as it quickly disappeared and started to stand up. I decided to skip breakfast as I wasn't hungry and headed up the stairs to get dressed. I was also excited to be able to get back into my old clothes after the baby arrived. I missed a lot of my non maternity stuff. I opened the wardrobe and pulled out one of the dresses I'd come to love whilst being pregnant. It made my bump look so much smaller than it now was. I pulled it on and searched for the pair of pumps which went with it. I found them under a pile of Ryan's clothes and slipped my feet into them. I checked I had what I needed in my bag before picking up my keys, bag and jacket before heading out to meet Joanne at the Costa down the road from us.
I sighed in relief as I managed to get the comfy seats in Costa. Joanne had texted to say she would be another five minutes as Danny needed to be changed. I set my phone down on the table and glanced out the window, watching as everyone went about their lives. A small whimper escaped my lips a pain made its way up my back. However once again, I shook it off as the extra weight I was carrying. I looked up as I heard the door open and smiled when I seen it was Joanne. She made her way over with the pram and sat down in the chair across from me, pulling the pram closer to the table so she could keep an eye on Danny.
"I'm surprised you wanted to come out and get a Costa. I thought with six days to go until your due date you'd want to just stay in the house in case anything happened." Joanne said as I took a sip of my drink. I just shook my head.
"No way! Ryan thinks I should stay in the house until my damn waters break but I can't handle being inside for days on end. I needed out and I haven't seen you in a while so I thought we could have a catch up." I said smiling. She smiled back before glancing at Danny.
"Yeah sorry about the lack of best friend time. This little guy seems to be a mummy's boy and constantly wants my attention." she explained and turned back to me.
"Aw bet Joel's loving that. Danny being a mummy's boy and having every ounce of your attention." I smirked. She sighed and shook her head.
"He says he's jealous. Jealous of his own baby. My husband is such a child." she laughed.
"I feel for you." I paused and pushed my chair out before standing up.
"What is it?" she asked.
"Just need to go to the bathroom. The baby seems to think now is the perfect time to lean on my bladder." I sighed and made my way to the bathroom. After I'd been to the toilet, I made my way back out to Joanne. I stopped half way there and leant against a chair while I felt a pain across my stomach. It passed fairly quick and I breathed a sigh of relief, just Braxton Hicks contractions again. I got back to the table and sat down, taking another sip of my drink.
