Hopeless
– By Sophia Cac
I've been with the crowd without the spotlight
But all seem to change within that night.
Either of us had anything to do in the room
But whenever our eyes meet, my heart seems to go BOOM.
While everyone dances with the band in the top volume,
All I can think of was us alone in the room.
But one made his way across the room to you
All seems to make sense and so I thought I was through
You talked with him while you had me thinking "What should I do?"
Thinking I probably missed my shot to get you
But then you shake his hand and return your eyes on mine,
All the sudden you got me fidgeting with a whine!
Oh I was hopeless!
Look at those eyes,
Just giving me sparks,
A sign, a chance to hit the mark!
I was never the one with a known name,
Nobody would care for me since I have no fame.
I have so many doubts
But your words cast them all out!
I never had the chance to be wild,
I was kept in my comfort zone since I was a child
But you're the one who gave me thrills!
And I thank the God for you were real.
A gift for me to keep
And girl, how you had me so deep!
I've written down many letters now
All for others to know
That I didn't entirely knew
What it was that you saw –
Saw in me, for I was blind to see myself in the mirror
...too blind to see things clearer
But then I thought,
Maybe I should write to myself.
For all the things I was taught
I never was guided to see it myself
What it was that made me "me"
But I always say "never mind"
In hope not to list out the flaws
That I never want to discuss
But you gave me a desire to say, "I'm me!"
You point out the chances,
Saying how many those haven't changes
Saying, "Hey see that?
Tell everyone that was you."
I recall you telling me to be true,
To myself, to others, and to you
So I shall say the truth.
"Hope you don't mind,
But you had me the moment you set your eyes on mine."
