On Sunday, I woke up alone. Alice had gone to see her family on Saturday night. My eyes started to water.
No, don't think about them now.
I rubbed away any tears and decided to just lie in bed for a few more minutes, when a knock on there made me sit upright. I looked at my clock. It said 10:14. Who would it be?
Well, go look, stupid.
I stood up and went to the door.
"Shane?" I asked, surprised. "What're you doing here? It's the girls dorm!"
"Hey. And, shh. Can I come in?" He blushed.
So did I.
"Uh, sure..." I stepped aside to let him in. What is he doing here? We'll both get in trouble if they find us. He looked at me and for the first time I realized I was just wearing my black baggy t shirt. I blushed harder.
"Um..."
"Nice room," he complimented, looking around.
"Thanks," I said.
"No problem. Anyway, listen, I just wanted to ask you; do you wanna go out with us today? We're allowed to go to Town." He said, looking at my face.
"Oh, yeah. Sure. What time?" I asked.
"3:30. Downstairs by the entrance doors. We'll meet there. Okay?"
"Alright." I said, awkwardly.
"Okay," he laughed and walked towards me. For a minute, I thought he was going to do it. I thought he was going to kiss me.
I tensed. I had morning breath. I probably looked a mess.
Instead, to my relief? -he kissed my cheek.
"See you, Ash." He grinned and opened the door.
"See you, Shane," I whispered. I didn't know if he heard me or not, but after a few seconds I heard the door close.
Get a grip! It was just a peck on the cheek. Nothing else. You guys are just friends.
I could feel my cheeks on fire. I shook my head. No. He only saw me as a friend. Yep, that's it.
After that, I took a shower, and choose a good enough outfit for the day, which was: black jeans, simple white t-shirt and my zip up blue hoodie. Nothing major.
I looked at my blue watch, I still had three hours to kill.
I went downstairs for some breakfast, seeing no one I knew, and ran back up to my room. I took out my sketch book and started to sketch Alice's side of the room.
I liked art. I'd started drawing since I was eight. It calmed me down. I had six already finished sketch books. Full of different drawings; trees, children, my room at my aunts house, my aunts ornaments, half of my face (which I'd had to look in the mirror for an hour, to get it right) and everything else.
My phone's alarm rang. It was 3:20. I sighed.
Would things be awkward between me and Shane? What if I was wrong, he doesn't like me? What if he has a girlfriend? Wait, what?
Stop thinking! Your not jealous. You told Alice you liked him as a friend only. Ugh.
I shook my head, closed my eyes and counted to ten before opening them and putting my shoes on. I grabbed my purse, phone and dorm key and put them into my small, side bag.
I opened the door and ran -literally- down the stairs.
I saw Hunter, Gage, and Shane standing there.
"Hey, guys. Where's June? Is she coming?" I asked.
"Hey, Ash." Gage said while Hunter said, "Yup."
"So is Anna." Shane added. His hair was covering half of his eyes. His cheeks were red, sort of, and he was grinning. It was weird to see them out of school uniform.
They were all wearing jeans and hoodies. Hunter wearing red, Gage wearing green and Shane blue.
"Oh, nice. So, um, what rime do we need to be back?" I asked.
Hunter snorted, "By 8:00."
I nodded.
"Gaage! Baby!" Someone yelled behind us. I turned around to see June and another girl walking towards us.
The girl had charcoal black hair and green eyes. She was pretty.
She ran past us all and jumped into Gage's arms. So, are they like... a couple? I asked myself.
"Anna! I know you missed me, but, uh, I can't breath!" Gage said, but hugged her back.
Everyone laughed.
"Hey, Anna, meet our new best friend, Ashley!" Hunter said, putting his arms around my shoulder. I blushed.
"Oh, hey! I'm Anna!" She grinned and hugged me.
She was nice.
"Nice to meet you. Finally." I said, smiling.
"You too!" She said.
"Don't worry, I'm single. If, you know, wanna hook up or something..." Gage winked at me. I laughed as Anna slapped his arm, playfully.
"No, babe. Your mine," Anna said, grinning while linking her hand through his.
"In your dreams," Gage whispered. But, he was grinning.
Shane and Hunter laughed along with me.
"So, then, you and Anna. Me and Ashley. Shane and June! Let's all go on a date!" Hunter yelled as we went out the big doors and outside.
"Uh, no. I like you more, Hunter," June grinned.
"Hey! What's wrong with me?" Shane frowned.
"Oh, nothing." June said, sarcastically.
"Meanie," Shane said, pouting.
"I'm a ladies man, dude." Hunter winked. He slung his arm over my shoulder again.
We all laughed again.
Today is going to be fun, I thought as we went out the iron gates and into the road.
