Nothings Gone Forever Chapter Three

My first day at Harrison Boarding School passed quickly and I was glad. I had Maths homework and Science homework so far.

At lunch, I just skipped and came into my dorm. I was too shy to go and eat. I wasn't hungry though. I had a bar of granola bar, I had packed, subconsciously.

I, then returned to my classes and no one stepped forward to talk to me. I was glad, kind of.

But, then, one of the things I wouldn't have wanted to happen on my first day, happened.

The girl with wavy dark hair, who was in both my English and Maths class, Alice, turned to me in the corridors.

"Who do you think you are? Hugging Shane?" She hissed at me. All kindness disappearing from her face.

At first, I was too shocked to say anything.

Answer her, a voice in my head whispered. Don't let her think she can talk to you like that.

"Um, excuse me?" I said.

"Don't go all innocent on me!" She glared at me.

"Um, sorry. I think you've got the wrong person..."

"I think you've got the wrong person," she mimicked me.

"Listen, I don't know you or what your talking about. And, if you don't mind, I gotta class to go to." I turned around to walk away, when she grabbed my arm.

"Stay away from Shane," she glared, before letting go and walking away.

I shook my head and went into the closet room and grabbed jeans and a shirt. Switching my clothes, I started on my homework, laying on my bed.

After a few minutes, the door opened and I looked up.

It was her. It was Alice.

"What are you doing here?" She nearly yelled.

"Um, this is my dorm, now?" I looked away from her glaring face and down at my Maths book.

"Oh no. Your moving to another dorm," she closed the door and dropped her bag on her bed. I looked up, one eyebrow raised.

"Okay?" I didn't know what her problem was, but I also didn't want to talk to her. I looked back down and carried on with my homework, ignoring her.

I heard her groan and go into the shower. When I heard the water going, I relaxed a little and sat up.

Ignore her, Ash. Don't let her bother you. In fact, act as if your on your own. Don't even look at her.

I nodded my head and decided that's exactly what I'd be doing.

Looking at my schedule next to me, I looked at what time dinner was. 6:00. I looked at my watch and realised it's 5:56. I packed up my books and put them in my bag.

I slipped on my shoes, grabbed my key and slipped out of the room, before the girl came out of the shower.

The lunch room was packed. Full of people at tables. With a start, I realised no one had asked me to sit with them. I knew no one. Apart from Shane and my roommate, Alice. No way was I sitting with either of them, I thought.

I'll just grab a sandwich and sneak into my room...

I waited in the short line, before grabbing a green apple, a bottle of water and Cheese Salad Sandwich.

"Hey, Ashley!" A familiar voice greeted me. I looked up to see smiling hazel green eyes.

"Oh, hey, Shane." I smiled. I knew if my roommate saw me talking with him, she'll get angrier, but I risked talking to him. He was the only friend I'd made here, after all.

"Wanna sit with me? And, my friends?" He asked.

"I, uh, not today. Thanks, though," I said.

"Oh, it's okay," he said, but I could sense his disappointment.

"Sorry." I bit my lip.

"No problem. Seriously. So, I'll see you around?" He said, taking his tray and walking to a table where two other boys sat at, laughing.

"Sure." I smiled and walked back out the lunch room.

Nearly running up the stairs, with my head down, I didn't see someone in front of me, when I'd reached the top of the stairs, when I bumped into them.

"Whoa, whoa. Where you going?" Mr. Lloyd said, steadying me.

"Um, in my room?" I tried to hide the food in my hands, but I saw his eyes flicker towards my hands.

"Eating in your room, huh?" He smiled, gently.

"Yes. Please, don't make me eat in the lunch room," I pleaded.

"It's fine. I won't. But, make sure no one else sees you. Not everyone is as nice as me," he said grinning, before walking away.

"Thank you, Mr. Lloyd."

"Anytime, Ashley," he said.

I realised, I didn't even know what he teaches. I shrugged and went into my dorm. Relived, I sat on my bed and began eating, when I notices Alice wasn't in the room.  After I was done eating, I put my rubbish in the bin next to my desk and decided to unpack some more. I was going to be living here for a long time anyway.

I went over to my slightly smaller suitcase and threw it on my bed. I opened it.  Inside there was a little more clothes and shoes, including some of my favourite perfumes. I smiled.

I realised some one had packed me a laptop. It was buried in-between my shirts. My smile broadened, even though I didn't know who.  I took it out, expecting some note on it or something, but I found nothing.

I, gently put it on my desk. Taking my clothes and shoes, I put then neatly in my big wardrobe.

I went back in my room and took out the envelop full of pictures and posters. One by one, slowly, I put them up. My wall was now, a little lively.

After emptying out my suitcase and putting everything where it belonged, I pushed the suitcase under my bed and fell on it. I was tired. Who knew boarding school was so tiring?
