The next day, I went through my daily routines before heading to class. I had Humanities first lesson. A lesson with Mr. Cooper...
On the bright side, I'd get to see Chase.
I frowned as soon as I thought it. Why should I get happy if I saw Chase? He was just my friend. I sho-
"Don't frown. Your face goes all... scrunched up," a voice whispered in my ear.
I whipped my head around and came face to face with Chase.
Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
"My face does not scrunch up!"
Chase chuckled softly. "I was kidding, Ash."
I narrowed my eyes. "Don't call me that!"
"Ash."
"Chasey."
I watched as a light burn spread across his face. "Don't call me that."
"Then don't call me Ash."
We had reached the door to our classroom. Chase pushed past me and opened it. He walked in and held it open for me. I nodded at him. Mr. Lloyd was also in the room. I wondered where Mr. Cooper was.
"Ashley! Chase! Good morning!" The teacher clapped his hands together and smiled at us.
"Morning," we replied with a smile. Trudging to our seats, we sat down and looked at Mr. Lloyd.
"Where's Mr. Cooper?" Chase asked the question for us both.
Mr. Lloyd shrugged. "I think he is out with the flu or something."
Mr. Cooper? Flu? Impossible. I knew I was being harsh -or rude- but Mr. Cooper would be able to prevent something like that from happening. He was fierce and cruel. He was like... Invincible...
Slowly, the rest of my classmates piled into the classroom. Once we were all settled in, Mr. Lloyd started the lesson.
I couldn't help but wonder, how could a Nurse teach Humanities? Wasn't he all about Science?

After having a small snack with June, Anne, Hunter and Gage, I walked back to my dorm. Shane hadn't eaten with us again and I was wondering what he was up to. Once in my room, I found Alice sprawled across her bed reading a book.
Without taking her eyes off her book, she said, "Hey. Where have you been?"
I kicked off my shoes and began to get changed. "Nothing, just had something to eat. Where you here since lunch?" I walked into the other room and opened my wardrobe. After swapping my uniform for something more comfortable, I walked back into the main room, pulling my hair into a firm pony tail.
"Yup."
"Whats it about?" I asked, referring to the book in her hands.
"Friendship. Betrayl. That stuff.
I nodded. I picked up my backpack and got out my planner. I had three homework's due in tomorrow.
"Alright. Well, I'm going to do my homework. Do you have any?"
This time, Alice looked at me. "Yeah, but I'll do it later. I need to finish this!" Then she buried her nose back into her book, but not before I had a good look at her eyes. I studied her for another minute. She was already in her pj's. Her hair was tied into a messy bun.
"Alice, are you okay?"
Pause.
"Yes. I'm fine."
I put my planner aside and got off my bed. "No you're not. What's wrong?"
Violently, she whipped her book downwards and looked at me. "Nothing. I'm just readin'! Now, off you pop."
I frowned. "Don't you trust me?"
"I do. But nothings wrong," she replied.
I decided one more time wouldn't hurt. "Are you sure your okay?"
"Yes."
No she wasn't. She'd been crying. She'd been crying over something and I didn't know. But I was going to find out and I was going to help her - if I could.
