I finish putting away the groceries before going to sit on the couch. As soon as I sit down, my phone rings. I groan and answer it. "Hello?"

"I hear you met them today." I lay my head on the back of the couch at my dad's response. "Yes, what did they say?"

"That they are excited to work with you and they think you should lead the team instead of Colton." We both laugh at that statement before being quiet for a minute. "So you really can't tell us anything else about who escaped?"

"No and we need to keep her alive if we can." I agree and we talk a little more before he has to get to another meeting and hangs up. I get tired of flipping through channels after an hour and go up to my room and change into jogging pants and a sports bra. I grab my phone and head phones and walk out the door while picking a song. I put in the earbuds and start running down the street. I run farther from town and push my speed. I keep going for another mile or so and start slowing down. I start jogging back. I time my run and push my speed as fast as I can. I make it home just as Sam pulls into the driveway. I slow down and see that I made it those three miles in record time. I say hi to him as I walk into the kitchen to grab a water bottle. "Hey, how was your run?"

"It was good. How was work?" He sits at the bar and sets down his papers. "Difficult. I got a call from one of my friends that said you went to visit your dad."

"Yeah, I wanted another mission to see if I really wanted to be done or not." Sam gives me a strange look and stands up to grab some water. "Oh yeah? Did he give you one?"

"Yeah, but I'm not allowed to tell anyone what it is. Which reminds me, Colton is coming over to talk about it in about a half hour." I say as I see it is almost five. "Seriously? Why can't you meet him at headquarters?"

"Because it's closed at five. Which reminds me you're home early." I say as I grab out a pan to make hamburger helper that is now on the counter. "It's almost five."

"True, but I seen the hours on your truck. You get off at four." I start to brown the meat and he leans against the counter next to me. "So? I had some stuff to do after work. Since when do I have to justify myself to you?" I let out a noise at how angry he sounds. I finish browning the meat without answering him. The doorbell rings and Sam makes an angry noise as he goes to the front door. I hear them talking and soon the door slams shut. I keep making the food as someone walks into the kitchen. I look back and see Colton walk into the room, with no Sam. "He leave?"

"Yeah. He seemed fairly angry." I laugh and simmer the food as I turn towards him. "I'll be right back. Probably should go put on a shirt." I say noticing I'm still wearing my sports bra. He nods and looks away. I run up the stairs and put on jeans and a black t shirt. I hurry back downstairs and stir the food. "Okay, so I met the other two today." I say not looking at him. I go over to the fridge and hand out a water bottle to him. I take a drink out of mine and sit on the counter. "Yeah, they are a bit strange."

"They don't like taking orders. That could be problematic but they seem good." He nods and sits at the bar. "Yeah, they were the best we could find. They are good at ground fighting as well."

"What is the plan?" I lean against the cupboard and sigh. "We need to figure out where she is and what she wants."

"How can we do that?"

"I'm not sure yet." I get off the counter and shut off the burner. "Well I guess we need to start with how she got out in the first place." I dish up a plate for each of us and there is enough for Sam still. I sit next to him and he tells me how she got out.
