I sit in the car and wait for the queen, after 5 minutes or so she walks out and gets in my car. "I'm sorry. I couldn't get him to agree."

"That's ok. I don't need to see Sam anyways." She turns and looks at me with a funny expression. "I thought you wanted to get to know Colton better and talk to Sam. What changed?"

"I just figured it out all of a sudden when I was in there." I smile bitter sweetly and head to my hotel. After saying goodbye to her, I walked into my room and ran to hug Sam who was in the middle of the room, walking towards the window that he must have came through. "What are you doing?" I ask not pulling away from our one-sided hug. "I came to visit. I seen you take off from headquarters and I wanted to come by and check on you." I pull away and go sit on the couch. "How did you get here before me then?"

"This great new technology called, red lights. I was ahead of you by a few blocks and hit all greens while you hit all the red lights." He smiles smugly. I hit him with a couch pillow as he sits in the chair next to me. "Wow, thanks for all that great wisdom."

"Anytime kid. Hang out with old wise men like me and you might actually learn something." I give him a fake shocked reaction. "I might actually learn! Oh my! What a fantastic opportunity I never would have gotten from any other person!" I laugh as he takes his turn hitting me with a pillow. We hear the door shut loudly and look up to see a very pissed off king, a non-amused father, and a solider. A stupid solider that I never should have acted friendly towards, and shouldn't even be here. Well, neither should Sam but that's besides the point. We sit  there looking at each other for a few minutes. The king looking more and more pissed off by the second. I open my mouth to speak but the king cuts me off. "Not one word Jolene. Now I've had enough of you breaking the rules and traditions. From now on if you break any more rules, even going a mile over the speed limit, You will be back at River Run. No getting out of it. I understood before, the stealing cars, the racing, the police chases, but not anymore. You are 17 years old and you need to start acting like it before we send you back. This time it won't be for eighteen months either. No matter how bad the offense, you will be in there for a minimum of three years. Technically you will only be at River Run until your eighteenth birthday but then we will transfer you. You are allowed out to work on my wife's car, if you can't figure it out, call your father to call Sam or Jared to find out what's wrong. Under no circumstances are you to be within a hundred feet of Sam Hunter or Colton Wolfe until the festival starts. Also, at the time you choose one of them, you choose which path you want to take: military or family. And don't you dare ask or tell the queen or any of my family about this, they can't get you out of this. Any questions?" I take a deep breath and stand. "What about the carnival, the night before the festival?" He smiles, "See you can be respectful, if you really try." I clench my jaw and ask again. He thinks for a minute, "Fine, you can go as long as you stay next to your father or me."

"What about the hundred feet thing? And I'm sure you have more important things to do then babysit me."

"The hundred feet will be suspended for the time that you are at the carnival. And I don't  have anything so important that I can't make sure that you follow the rules and don't get into any trouble." He start walking out of the room and motions for Sam and Colton to follow him. "Wait, I have one more question." I call out as my dad walks towards me. The king stops and turns back to face me. "What about the race?"

"If you earn it, you can go."

"Can I race?"

"No." He walks out and slams the door behind him and the guys.
