Chapter Twenty-Nine
Alison's POV
My eyes were wide with slight fear as I felt everything shake around me. I gripped the sheets, my heart pounding in my chest. I could hear the soft breathing of Audrey on the other side of the room, but with her being quite the heavy sleeper, I knew she wouldn't wake up fast enough to calm me down. So, instead, my mind switched to a different person.
"Niall!" I called, fearfully glancing at the doorway and hoping for the Irish boy to walk in. "Niall! Niall!" A moment later, I heard a loud bang that made me jump and a string of curse words following after it. After a couple seconds, I saw the dark outline of Niall slumped against the side of the doorway.
"What did ya need, Ali?" Niall asked me in a deep, sleepy-like voice, causing my heart to pound even more than it had a moment ago.
I opened my mouth to speak, but again everything shook, causing me to squeak in surprise. Niall noticed then how scared I was and sighed. "Ya okay?"
"No, not really," I muttered, clenching my teeth. I wasn't used to being on a plane, especially one that was this bumpy.
The sound of Niall sighing again hit my ears, and I watched as he stumbled tiredly towards me. "Ali, it's..." he trailed off, looking at the digital clock on the little nightstand beside me. I was surprised it hasn't fallen off yet. "Two-thirty in the morning," he finished, groaning slightly. I knew he liked to have his sleep, especially after how busy we had been in the last five days.
After the interview, we had another sound check. At that sound check, nothing seemed to go right, as the microphones weren't working properly, the lighting was off, and the mechanics were completely out of whack. We ended up staying an extra four hours at the arena so some random people could fix everything up. Then the next four days we had concert after concert after concert. Although I loved singing to our fans, I was exhausted by the third day. Five hours after our fourth concert, we were called and told to get everything packed; we were heading to the UK.
So here we were, on a private jet that made me miss the ground more than anything.
"Ali? Ali!"
"Huh?" I murmured, my thoughts scattering. My eyes fluttered up to see Niall's tired face.
"I was asking if you what was wrong," he answered patiently, his eyes gazing over me as if he expected me to be hurt.
My frown deepened as I pulled my sheets over my head. "I'm scared."
"Scared of what?" Niall asked, and I clenched my teeth as the jet shook. Again.
"The jet. It's shaking."
Silence followed after my words for a few seconds. I thought Niall had left, or passed out, until I felt the bed shift. "Scoot over," he ordered me in a soft voice, and I did as told. Immediately, I could feel his body pressed against mine, his arms wrapping around me and holding me close. I was glad he couldn't see me because I knew my face was the color of a tomato.
My face nuzzled into his chest and my arms were nestled on his side. "Oh, Alison. You're shaking," he murmured. I hadn't noticed I was, but once he said something, I realized I was shaking like a freaking Chihuahua. His arms tightened more around me, his chin rested on top of my head. "It's okay, you're okay. Just go to sleep."
"Okay," I whispered, unsure if he had heard me or not. Adding in a slightly louder whisper, I added, "Thank you, Ni."
"Anything for you, Ali," he quietly replied back, pecking my forehead. I felt his lips linger for a moment before removing them, settling back into his original position.
