Chapter Twenty-Six
Kathryn's POV
I've seen some crazy stuff.
Like that time I'd gone to a club with Audrey and Isabelle only to see everyone was playing strip limbo. Yes; strip limbo is apparently a game. Watching drunk people try to walk under a broom was quite amusing, but when half the club got naked, I knew it was time to go. That's not something I ever want to see again.
But as I stepped into the tour bus, the last thing I expected to see was a green-haired Audrey wrapped in only a towel- still dripping wet- arguing with a seething Louis. Like I think anyone would be, I felt a spark of surprise, my wide eyes looking from Audrey to Louis to Audrey again.
Finally, after a moment, I spoke. "Audrey, what-"
"Don't ask," she cut in, her eyes burning with anger and her arms crossed over her chest. A puddle of water laid under her feet, and a couple drops of water fell from the ends of her green hair onto the floor.
I opened my mouth to say something else then closed it again when I heard Liam coming up the stairs of the entrance. "Kathryn, there's-" he began, but stopped in his tracks when he spotted the two troublemakers. His eyes widened like mine had, but they narrowed almost as quickly. "Louis, what did you do to Audrey's hair?"
Louis's frown deepened. "I didn't do anything!" he exclaimed, his voice straining to keep cool. "Ask her."
Our gaze flipped to Audrey, who was still standing there with every inch of her face reflecting her unhappiness. "Go get dressed, Audrey. Then we'll talk," Liam decided. When Audrey started making her way towards the girls' room, I stopped her.
"No. Audrey, sit on the couch now. Louis, sit next to her. We're going to deal with this now." I pointed towards the couch. Liam didn't disagree with me, but Audrey tried to.
"But I'm freezing-"
"I don't care," I hissed right back at her, my eyes dark and challenging. This was the last straw; I was done with this silly prank war between them. Audrey looked as if she wanted to say something else, but a glare from me made her change her mind. All she did was return the look before sitting down on the couch, carefully holding the top of her towel to her body. Louis settled down as far away from her as possible on the other side, not giving even a sideways glance in her direction.
I had just sat down on the couch on the opposite wall when Zayn and Ariella stepped through the doors. Ariella was asleep, and Zayn had her in his arms bridal style. Her head was laying limp against her chest, one arm lying against her stomach and the other tucked between herself and Zayn's arm. The Bradford lad gave a look at Audrey, shocked, then at Louis, then to Liam and I. All he did was sigh lightly, looking tired as he carried the girl off into the girls' bedroom.
I waited patiently until Zriella had disappeared into the bedroom, my eyes still trained on Lou and Audrey, before speaking. "Start from the beginning." Immediately, Audrey and Louis started talking at the same time.
"Louis threw me into a fucking mud puddle-"
"After that glue in the chair prank, she deserved-"
"Then I went to take a shower-"
"This whole green hair thing is her fault!"
"My hair is GREEN! And it's all because of-"
"Bitch!"
"Di-"
"Hey!" Liam cut in, his voice booming through the tour bus. His hazel eyes had a hint of anger in them, yet I knew he was trying to stay calm. "This is one's fault or the other. It's both your faults." They tried to cut in, but Li was quicker. "This has gone far enough. We won't be able to get the green out of Audrey's hair before the interview tomorrow unless we dye it. Again," he added, sending the girl a look.
Audrey frowned lightly. "That isn't going to make the color green disappear completely, though."
"Do you have a better idea?" I asked before Liam could. Audrey shot me a look, but just shook her head, letting out a slow sigh. "Because of your little 'prank gone wrong,' this happened."
"Isn't Karma a bitch?" Louis asked mockingly, glancing at Audrey. She looked right back at him, and if looks could kill, Lou would be dead right now.
Slowly, a smirk snuck up on Audrey's face, causing Louis's mocking look to fade into a small frown. "I'll remember that," she said, her tone mysterious and dark.
Before anything else could be said, a door opened. I turned my head to see Isabelle and Harry walk out of the boys' room. Isabelle's hair was messy and her face was flushed, and Harry had a tiny smirk I could tell he was trying to hide. Cocking an eyebrow, I asked, "What are you two up to?"
Is looked at me and sent me a slight smile, gathering her blonde hair and putting it up in a messy bun. "Just talking," she replied.
Louis let out a snort, and I turned to look at him in time to see him roll his eyes. "What you were doing on the carpet didn't look like talking to me," he said in a sing-songy voice. As much as Audrey tried to hold it back, I could hear her giggle slightly.
My eyes widened as I looked back at Isabelle and Harry. Harry huffed, crossing his arms over his chest as Isabelle blushed. "I swear!" he exclaimed, glancing at me then Liam. He shook his head, and when he did, I could see something on the left side of his neck.
Sudden suspicion overwelmed me. "Harry," I said, "come here."
Harry grinned at me, walking over to me. I motioned for him to squat, which he did. I then placed a hand on his jaw and moved his head to the right so I could get a better look. "Just talking, huh?" I stated, running a cool finger along the little love bite.
Harry pulled away from me, clearing his throat as Louis and Audrey doubled over in laughter. Hazza looked as if he wanted to defend himself, but guessing that he knew he had lost, he just frowned and stalked back into the guys' bedroom, muttering words under his breath. Leaving a guilty Isabelle behind. Liam looked at her with raised eyebrows as she gave a sheepish smile. "I'll just..." she began, trailing off as she ran off to the girls' bedroom. Probably to look for some love bites herself.
I shook my head, slightly amused as I glanced back at a red faced Audrey and Louis. "Go get dressed, then we can go buy you hair dye."
Audrey, still giggling, nodded her head and pulled up her towel a bit more securely before stepping into the girls' bedroom. "As for you," Liam voice sounded, staring at Louis, "go clean up the mess she left in the tub. I don't want to see a spot of green."
Louis's smile turned into a playful pout. "But Daddy-"
"Don't 'Daddy' me," Liam said, smiling a bit. "There's some bath cleaners under the sink along with a washrag; clean both the tub and the shower head. I don't want anymore green-haired people running around the house."
After Louis nodded, he stood and walked into the bathroom. Both Li and I watched him go until he disappeared. Only then did I lean my head back against the couch and let out a slow, deep breath. "They're so hard to handle."
"They'd be in jail if we weren't here," Liam added, letting out a chuckle as he leaned back as well, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me to him.
I laid my head against his chest as he kissed the top of my head. Suddenly, I felt my heart flutter, which has been happening for a long time now everytime I hung out with the lad. I knew what it meant to, but I didn't want to say it. I didn't want to ruin the friendship we had built up over the course of seven months.
"Tired, Kat?" Liam asked, calling me by the nickname he'd given me and drawing me out of my thoughts.
"A bit," I admitted; having a sound check, fighting off paparazzi, and dealing with Louis and Audrey had really wore me out. "I need a nap."
Liam shook slightly as he let out a laugh, nodding his head slowly. "I'll take Audrey to pick out a hair dye if you want. You just get some rest, okay?"
Normally, I would tell him I'd do it. But I only agreed with a nod, letting out a breath as he removed himself from my side to stand up. I longed to pull him back, but stopped myself as I layed out on the couch.
"Goodnight," Li whispered in my ear, sending goosebumps running along my skin.
"Goodnight."
