"Zachury! Oh Zachury!" I called out, running across his huge freshly cut lawn. Zac was hiding from me and he wasn't going to give up his hiding spot for nothing. I looked around the yard, only coming across a few trees and bushes in front of his house. I grunted and let out a long sigh.

I blew my dirty blonde hair of my face as I spotted a bush shaking. I snuck towards it, careful not to make a sound. I didn't want Zac to know that I knew his super secret hiding spot... I got as close as I could before I jumped on the bush and yelled "Gotcha!" Only to realize it was only a squirrel. I let out a moan and went to turn back around only to be startled by a messy 9 year old brown haired boy with that cheesy smile.

"Do you honestly think I would let you find my super secret hiding spot?" He giggled, poking a finger at my chest. I pushed his finger away and I had a sour look on my face. "Awh, you're never a good sport,"

"Yeah, yeah. My turn," I smiled.

"Okay, I'll count to ten and you hide," he covered his eyes and soon as he did I went and ran behind the tree. Zac stopped counting and knew exactly where I was. He tapped on my shoulder and laughed at me as I started whining that he found me....

"Hello?" Zac was waving his firm hand in front of my dazed face.

I lifted my face off of my hand as I came out of the daydream. I scrunched my nose, and looked at his cute face. He was smirking at me and his soft brown eyes were bright. I looked around the room, not remembering where I was. I saw Mr. Robertson standing up there giving his usual English lecture and none of the students were really paying attention to it. They were either sleeping, texting, or flicking paper balls at one another. I looked outside and it was pouring rain, I mean that's not unusual for this dreary state of Washington.

"Were you daydreaming again?" He whispered.

I avoided that question. "Are we still hanging out after school?"

"Don't we always? It's Friday, we always hang out,"

I nodded, smiling at the boy that has always been there for me. Zachury and I really didn't have any other outside friends. We usually ended up hanging out everyday unless it was a family thing. The only other friends we had were named William and Alice but that was it. Zac wasn't the popular type... More like the cute dorky type. He has only had me growing up but that's how we liked it. I don't understand why nobody liked him.. He's a total sweetheart and not too bad looking on the eyes.

"Ice cream?" I asked, hopeful.

He nodded, knowing I was going to say that. We always either watch a movie, go get ice cream, go to the mall, or go to the old playground we used as kids. The bell soon rang and it was the end of day. I was so happy to just be out of here. Zac and I headed out of the school and hopped in his car. He usually picked me up and dropped me off at school everyday since I didn't have a car yet.

He turned his car on and the music was blasting throughout the vehicle. I started head bobbing and he just laughed at me. It was pouring really hard and getting out of the parking lot was always a bust. Once we managed to get out of that hell hole, we headed straight to Joe's Ice Cream Palace. We discovered this place when we were 12. It was a tiny little place which defeats the purpose of it being called Palace but whatever.

When we got inside it smelt just like a sweet cold smell. I got my usually rocky road and he got his cookie dough. We sat in this little corner table near the window. I started spooning my ice cream into my mouth, not caring if I got a brain freeze.

"The ice cream isn't going anywhere, ya know," Zac mocked.

"How would you know? It melts,"

He chuckled. "Then you drink it,"

"That's disgusting,"

"It's still ice cream,"

"It's just cream then,"

"You're something else, Mer,"

I mocked him in a really high voice and he just laughed at me like he usually does. He was a slow eater which made me look like a pig. Once I was done he was only finished with maybe half of it and I was growing impatient.

"Why do you take forever?" I groaned, looking at the time.

He looked at me, purposely going slower and slower as he drew the spoon closer to his face. I flicked the spoon, and the ice cream fell all over the table.

"Meredith!" He stood up, making sure none of it got on him. "You're stupid," he muttered, running to get napkins.

That's what he gets.

As soon as we were done we headed to his place to watch a couple movies. The night was still young and it was my turn to pick the movie. I liked watching movies with him because it gave me the opportunity to get close to him. He never put his arm around me or anything but I liked the heat that radiated off his skin. Once we got to his house he plopped on his couch that was in his basement and grabbed a fleece blanket to wrap himself in. He ordered me to pick a movie before he picked one I didn't like. I put in the movie '13 going on 30'. It was my favorite.

He groaned because we have watched this a hundred million times. "Why do you always pick this?"

"Cause I know it makes you mad," I plopped next time, trying to hint that I wanted to share the blanket with him. Of course he never got it and I had to fetch my own blanket. As soon as the movie started Zac was already asleep. I ended up watching it by myself and I couldn't help but let my mind wander to other places.
