"You're going to be late for school, Meredith!" My step mom, Katie, called from downstairs.
I was trying to fix the mess that I call hair but it was no use so I just threw it up in a ponytail. I grabbed my backpack and darted down the stairs. Zac was leaning against the door, waiting for me. He looked impatient
I gave him an apologetic look as we both headed out to his car. It stopped raining but it was still freezing. I turned the heater all the way up and Zac smacked my hands away.
"It's freezing, Zac!" I tried to reach for the heater again.
He smacked them away, again. "It's too hot in here! The heat is blowing in my face!"
I crossed my arms. "Fine, but if my fingers fall off its on you,"
He smirked. "I think I can deal with that,"
We arrived at the school and that's where we saw our friends Alice and William waiting for us by the flag pole. They waved as us as we approached them. Alice immediately went to my side and cheekily smiled.
"I have a lot to tell you about what happened this weekend!" She laced her arm with mine.
I smiled back at her. She went away this weekend with her parents to Hawaii for her birthday present. Her birthday was actually in September and it is now October but it was a late birthday present.
When we were all inside the school we headed to our usual table in the lunchroom. We were the only ones who had our own separate table. We were known as the 'dorky' and 'uncool' squad but we didn't mind it. I was kinda disappointed when Zac didn't sit next to me.
"So!" Alice started, "Can you tell that I'm darker?" She put her hand out so everybody could see but honestly, I couldn't even tell.
I just nodded. "Looks lovely," I commented.
She made a sour face and drew her hand back. "You're just saying that," she put a blonde curl behind her ear. "At least I can tell the difference,"
William laughed. "I can tell you're darker, Alice,"
She smiled slightly. William had a thing for Alice and has since the day he met her but she had a boyfriend. William never stopped trying to flirt with her... Or anyone for that matter. Alice's boyfriend moved a few states away just last month so they're doing a long distance relationship.
"Oh! Have you guys seen the new girl, yet?" William says, but he was pretty much asking Zac. Zac didn't say anything. "She's quite the hottie,"
"And so out of your league," Alice teased.
"Aw, come on... You don't think a girl like that would go for me?"
"Not in your dreams,"
I had no idea what this new girl even looked like and I didn't even know she was such a hype here. "What's her name?" I asked, curiously. William smiled.
"Marie Smith," he said her name like she was some sort of a goddess. I huffed. The bell soon rang and I grabbed my backpack and headed off to class.
**
"Class! We have a new student!" My Spanish teacher called. "Her name is Marie Smith and she came here from the United Kingdom,"
Marie stood in the front of the classroom just smiling and slightly waving at us. She was beautiful. She had long, silky blonde hair, perfect white teeth, a tan small body, and of course like every cliche girl does that is popular, she has big boobs and a huge ass. All the boys pretty much drooled over her. She looked kinda fake to me but that could be the jealousy talking.
I've gone here for 3 years and not once has a boy ever drooled over me like they are to her. My teacher told her to sit in the empty spot that was right next to me (how convenient). Marie took her seat and the teacher started talking about the lecture. The boy in front of me kept trying to talk to her, and I was getting annoyed.
"Can I get your number, sweet thing?" He asked. How snobby.
"Sure!" Marie ripped a little piece of paper off of her note book and wrote her number down for him. She had a British accent but it sounded fake as well. The guy whispered "Yes!" And immediately put her number in his phone.
"I'll be calling you tonight," he murmured. She giggled.
God, when will this class ever end? My next class was English and I was just excited to see Zac. All hour the boys have been googling over her and she's given her number to about 5 guys. I didn't see the big deal. It's not like we don't have pretty girls at this school so what was so great about Marie? The bell rang and I was the first one out of there. I hurried over to English so I tell Zac all about this.
He was already there when I got there and it made me sigh relief.
"You have no idea what just happened in my last hour," I tell him as I sat behind him. He turned around, his cute brown eyes focusing on me.
"Oh yeah?"
I nodded. "I saw that Marie girl. I have Spanish with her.... She seems fake and something about her seems off but I can't put my finger on it,"
"And by off you mean?"
I scrunched my nose. "I can't wrap my head around it but I can smell a fake bitch from a mile away,"
He laughed slightly. "Are you sure you're not just jealous, Mer?"
My eyes widen. "Why would I be jealous? Why would you ask that?"
He shrugged. "She is kinda hot, not gonna lie,"
My heart kinda shattered. "You've seen her?"
"I actually met her in the hall before I came here. She asked for my number,"
My face grew dark. "Did you give it to her?"
He shook his head. "No... Do you think I should have?"
I didn't want to answer honestly cause then it would give it away that I liked him. Why would SHE out of all people ask for Zac's number? He was dorky and nerdy... & cute... But why him? Something was going on here and I didn't like it.
"I mean... If you wanted to then you would have?" Seemed like a good enough answer without giving him a straight up no. He placed his hand on mine, and my heart started to race.
"Don't worry, Mer. I trust what you say. I won't get involved with her,"
I smiled. "Promise?"
"Promise," but the way he said it doesn't sound like he meant it. I really hope whatever happens just doesn't mess anything up... Or steal Zac away from me.

Romance"Marie and I are not a thing," he started, looking away from me. "And?" He pursed his lips. I could tell he wanted to say something. He just shook his head. "That's all you need to know," I was furious. Why does he always freaking say that? "Then...
