Something collided with my cheek. My eyes automatically shut themselves before the tears started pouring from them.
I open my eyes and look around. Who just punched me? I look around again and only see one person in the room.
Josh.
"Alli, I'm so sor-" josh began until I cut him off.
"What the fuck Josh. What was that for!?" I yell at him.
"It was a mistake Al. " he says softly.
"Josh. You just punched me in the face. That wasn't a mistake. You don't just punch someone in the face by mistake. " I choke out.
"Alli I'm soo sorry. I didn't mean to. I would never hurt you on purpose." Josh says with watery eyes.
"Sorry doesn't cut it Josh. No matter what you say you still punched me in the face." I yell.
"Alli stop yelling. I'm so sorry. Please believe me." Josh says as his eyes get even more watery.
"You've said it yourself Josh. You don't hit a woman." I yell at him.
I start to walk away. Josh grabs my wrist.
"Al wait. " he begs.
"Baby please. I love you and I didn't mean to do it. If I could take back time and redo I wouldn't have hurt you. I would have punched myself" Josh choked out.
I didn't say anything. I needed time to think.
I pulled out of Josh's grip and sat down with my back against the wall. I put my head in my hands. Josh came over and pulled me close to him. He put his arms around me. I rested my head on his chest forgetting for a few minutes what had just happened.
Josh kissed my head and hugged me closer to him.
A few minutes turned into an hour.
"Al listen. I'm soo sorry. Do you forgive me?" Josh asked.
"Did you have to bring it up? I had forgotten all about it." I say softly.
"I realize I messed up Al. Please forgive me." Josh begged.
"Josh. Here's what I don't get. My mom messed up. But yet you take it out on me." I say.
"Alli it was a mistake." Josh said as his eyes got watery again.
I stood up and walked to the door. Just before I got to the door. Josh followed me and grabbed my waist.
"Baby please don't go" Josh said as a tear fell from his cheek.
"Josh I just don't know." I began.
I stood up and moved away from Josh. I opened the door and stepped out.
"Just give me some room to breathe." I said thru tears as I shut the door behind me.
