Caleb's POV

I had to be quick. I might be winning, maybe even losing.
I don't know.
But all I know, I can't let Connor win this. There has to be another--
When I saw Kaitlyn walk into the cafeteria, an idea came to mind.

"What's with the long face?" she asked as she approached me.

"It's just," I paused, thinking about what I should say. "Could you... do me a favour? It's um," I lowered my voice.
"It's kind of private so can you promise me you won't--"

"Promise." she grinned, making me do the same.

I told Kaitlyn the whole story, about the bet, Connor. I noticed that Kaitlyn was quite close to Jasmine, she could help me. Hopefully.

"I need you to get her to show her, tell her, whatever that I'm showing signs, for example, staring at her in class or something like that. To get her to notice me a little."

"Wait, hold up. So you like her?"

Without hesitation,

"No."

I can tell her about the bet. I can tell anyone about the bet.
But that I like Jasmine?
No. Definitely not.

"Thanks, Katie."
"Katie?" she squinted her eyes.
"Can I... call you that?"
She shook her head and giggled.

Jasmine's POV

"Jas, wait up!" I heard Kaitlyn's voice behind me as I left the classroom. I turned and sighed at the same time.

"Have you noticed anything weird lately? Anything, at... at all?" she asked suspiciously.

"Uh... no? Not really."

"Well, I caught someone checking you out in class." I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"And who might this someone be?" I kept walking towards my next class.

"Caleb." I stopped, and I spoke over my shoulder.
"I'm not... I'm not interested."
"Whoa, whoa. No, Jasmine. You see, I never said he was interested did I?"

It was just a kiss. It was just a kiss. It didn't meant anything. I told her that. I told him that.

"I gotta go." I sighed, and went off.

It was just a kiss.

I flopped onto my bed and put my headphones on.

Caleb? No. He was just checking out Kaitlyn instead. Oh no, I wasn't sitting next to Kaitlyn.
Anyway.
It's not true.
He's not, and I'm not.
