Ch. 13 The Test

I look at L, my heart beating fast.

'What was that'

He returned my gaze, his mouth slightly opened in awe.

'He had to have felt it, right? What even was that?'

The Task Force exchanged confused looks as I quickly look around. I had completely forgotten they were in the room.

I stand up suddenly as L abruptly leans back in his chair. He watched me as his emotionless face returned.

"I have to pee." I say abruptly.

'Pee? Really?'

The task force looked between L and I, noticing the strange tension.

"The bathrooms over there" Light says pointing towards the door to the left of him.

"Cool." I say, walking fast towards the door.

The Task Force turns back to each other.

"Ryuzaki? Who called then?" Ide says in an annoyed voice.

I reach for the door and shut it behind me quickly.

'What the hell just happened? I had never felt anything like that in my life? Was it just a freak sensation? Did L feel it too?"

I thought back to the incident. I found myself craving his touch again, I wished I could rewind time and live that moment over and over again.

'What is going on with me'.

I lean on the sink looking at myself in the mirror. My (E/C) eyes gaze at my reflection.

'Ok don't get distracted...this is about Kira. Catching Kira. Not L. Just calm down, it was probably nothing.'

I splash water on my face as I try to push away all my feelings. Finally I was beginning to compose myself.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

'God can I not get 5 minutes to myself'

I open the door a peep to see who it is.

It was Light.

"Hey, are you good?" he asked with a hint of worry in his voice.

"What...? Yeah I just needed to pee. I just finished." I say opening the door all the way.

L and the Task Force seem to be deep in a conversation.

"So...who called?" I whispered to Light while shutting the door behind me.

"We don't know...apparently someone mirrored your number and called your sister. Ryuzaki said there's no way we can track it." Light says looking down at me as we walk to meet the Task Force.

I felt a slight ping in my heart.

'So someone did talk to my sister? But why?'

"Miss (L/N)" L says looking towards Light and I.

I look back at him.

"Uh yeah...what's up." I say, butterflies in my stomach.

The Task Force looks at me. L lifts his finger up and gestures for me to come to him as he coldly stares at me.

I look up at Light as he shrugs.

I make my way to L and the Task Force.

"Sit." L says pointing to the seat right in front of him.

I look at him with a look of annoyance on my face.

"Again, I'm not a dog." I say crossing my arms over my chest.
