Ch. 17 The Hospital

L and I ride in silence as Watari drives us to the hospital.

'Chief Yagami...did Kira get to him?'

I look out the window trying not to worry so much.

'Was he dead?'

L stares forward looking out the front window. His expression is blank.

'How did he hide his emotions so well? Was he even worried?'

I look at him with worry and slight confusion in my eyes.

He continues staring through the front window, not moving his eyes.

I look back out the window trying to relax a little bit.

'Light...I wonder if he's okay. The Chief's family was probably so worried.'

We drive for a couple more minutes before arriving at the hospital.

I pull the limo's door handle before rushing through the front hospital doors, L following close behind me.

I walk up to the front desk, my hands on the counter.

"We're here for Soichiro Yagami." I say, frantically asking the nurse.

She looks between me and L before responding.

"Only family is allowed." She says coldly while looking at us.

I shift my gaze towards L as he looks back at me.

I try again.

"We're close with hi-"

"I don't care. Only family." She says sharply while looking down at her papers in front of her.

I turn back to L as his eyes widen. His eyebrows furrow.

He looks at the lady before opening his mouth.

"(Y/N)" A voice says from behind me,

I whip my head around.

It was Light.

"Light..." I say softly before walking towards him.

"Is he okay, is he alive?" I ask, looking him frantically in the eyes.

He looks at me calmly before he shifts his eyes towards L.

"He's fine, he's okay." He tells us with a sense of relief.

'Thank God.'

Light smiles a bit at us before turning to the nurse.

"They're with me." He says walking past the front desk motioning us to follow him.

"Oh..okay!" The nurse responds.

'Yeah b*tch'

I peer at her before following Light down the hallway.

"What happened?" I ask turning to Light as L trails behind us.

Light looks forward as he speaks to me.

"At first I thought it was Kira..." Light begins.

"But it was just the overwhelming stress he's been under recently." Light says looking down before turning to me.

I look up at him.

'I mean it made sense...Chief Yagami had been working on the Kira investigation for months now.'

"Well thank God, he's okay." I say looking back at him slightly smiling.

"Yes....Thank God." L says behind us looking blankly at the back of Light's head.
