"Do you know how we came up with the name the shield?" Seth asked.
"No I don't." I replied.
"Well we were randomly throwing our words," Roman said
"And those words randomly came out and they formed SHIELD." Dean continued
"Wow." I replied.
"This is our family now." Roman said.
"There are so many lights in here." I pointed out.
"Do you want me to close the blinds?" Seth asked.
"No it's perfect. There's like no light in the orphanage. I thought every light meant hope. This place is filled with hope." I smiled. Not evilly this time.
"Wow I never thought you would let your guard down sis."Dean said
"What! I did not let my guard down!" I said tackling Dean on the bed.
Seth Roman and Dean picked me up.
"no!!!!" I yelled laughing.
They triple power bombed me onto my bed. We all fell down laughing our heads off.
The shield stood up leaving me down putting their fist in above me.
Dean helped me up.
We all just stared at each other.
"God! Will I have to everything for you?" Dean forced my hand in.
"Guys this is your thing." I said
"Now it's ours." Seth said
"So when's supper?" I asked breaking the tension between us.
"I just fed you just 10 minutes ago!" Dean reminded me.
"Yeah. But for the past 11 years I've eaten 1 piece of bread every day. Sometimes 2 if I scared someone that badly. So who here knows math?" I asked.
Dean and Roman pointed at Seth.
"Okay what's 365 times 11?" I asked
"4026" he answered.
"That's how much I ate in the past 11 years. I just ate a grilled cheese Mac and cheese and cheese pizza. That's basically equivalent to about 2 weeks of my life." I explained. (I don't actually if that is it was just a guess)
"Well we have some food here." Roman said.
"Just don't touch my fruit snacks." Seth demanded.
"What if I do?" I challenged.
Seth went quiet.
"I won't though." I admitted.
"Well you obviously like cheese." Dean said.
"One night I traveled to Wisconsin. God those people love cheese." I said.
"Cheese heads." Seth mumbled.
" hey when's your birthday anyways?" Roman asked.
I looked down.
"I don't know." I admitted.
"Then can't we just go online or to the government?" Dean asked.
"Yeah let's go." I stopped Seth.
"Guys please don't."
"Why not?" Roman asked.
"If I hear who my parents are, then I'll find out about them. I don't want to know if I had A family who loved me, or if they died, or why they left me. I can live without a birthday," I explained.
"Well technically you can't..." Seth Pointed out.
"Shut it smart mouth," I snapped.
"How about we have you try popcorn." Dean suggested
"Dean we can't have her eating unhealthy." Roman said
"Look at her. She hasn't had meat for 11 years." It was true. You could almost see my bones.
"Then I'll just make steak. We have some somewhere." Seth suggested.
"I'll go check." Dean said jogging to the fridge. "We don't steak but we pork. That'll do."
"Seth get cooking." Roman demanded.
"Is Seth the only person who knows how to do stuff around here?" I asked
"Basically. But Dean is good with humor and Roman with keeping us alive." Seth explained.
Me and Dean sat down on the couch.
"So what else rules did you break at that nightmare?" He asked
"Every rule. The only one I didn't break was don't break the rules." I explained
"So you didn't break the rules at all?" Dean asked.
"I didn't break the sign that had the rules stated."
"Wow Evelyn. Just wow. You know the tricks then?" Dean laughed. "Wanna play a video game?"
"Sure but you'll teach me how." I said
Dean taught me how to play and we played for about 30 minutes. Then Seth was done cooking. After we ate Roman made me take a shower. After the shower I was really tired. I layed down on the couch.
I felt Roman put a blanket over me. I was half asleep and I heard that the boys were taking. I listened to them talk.
"What are we gonna tell Vince and Hunter?" Seth asked.
"Adopting a kid. There gonna make is give her up. I know there gonna think that Evelyn will distract us from our job. And we can't just leave her in here for 3 or 5 hours every day" Roman explained.
"Guys. We're not giving up Evelyn no matter what. And what if hunter thinks she has potential. She does. I know it. I say we introduce her to Steph first. Steph loves kids she'll do our hard work." Dean said
"But for her to even get backstage she has to have a birth certificate . We never got one for her and she doesn't want us to." Roman reminded them.
"Then while in out on my run I'll pick it up tomorrow. We don't tell her." Dean explained.
I fell asleep then.
