Chapter 3:

I know how everybody was all like.

I saved my brother and sister's lives.

I fought off zombies.

I could kill you in my sleep.

And most of the time it is true. For some people. Other people it is all like.

I really lasted this long. Wow.

That's me.

I have no clue how I am still alive.

*Flashback*

Quickly we ran down the hall making little noise.

"I'll make sure it's clear." I say peering around the corner.

"Ash be safe!" Bex whispers.

Taking a deep breath I nod my head turning the corner unknowingly what was going to happen. I guess it must have looked clear for me when I motioned for them to follow me.

*Boom*

Gun shots are heard from all over the place. Some shattering the glass from windows of cars or walls. When really we shouldn't have moved into this position with people who are fighting for their lives. Like we were.

If only I wouldn't have lead us this way.

"I'm going to run forward. Stay low and keep living!" I yell over the missing shots of both our side and theirs. Lea keeps shooting off the close by guys.

Then I run.

Dodging bullets and other flying things that are coming at me. I only have time for my one objective.

Distracting everything that will shoot at Bex and Lea. I am guessing it's working seeming most of their bullets are aiming to me.

Curiously looking back, I spot Bex and L moving slowly closer.

"Ash watch out!" Lea yells as I get tackled to the ground.

"Let. Me. Go!" I scream trying to get out of the position on the ground.

*Boom*

The pressure is lifted and I am able to move again.

Bex just saved my life.

*End of flashback*

I guess Lea and Bex kept me alive for most the time.

But before that. Before all of this happened it was different.

I was an only child. Running around in a field. Finding where the cats went up in the barn. Driving four-wheelers around in the mud. Everything was cool.

Until the Zombies took over.

*Flashback*

Around 10 years ago. It was my 5th birthday. I was sitting at the table waiting to be greeted by my parents as they came back from a work day on the field. But when they came back. They weren't themselves. They had a little Bug in them.

"Mom?" I yell standing up on the table. The door had obviously opened but never been shut. "Dad?" I still try and yell getting an answer from anybody.

I guess I got what I wanted. I got a grunt type yell back in response from what used to be my mother.

The table started to move as my father broke it. As I fall off of it I hit something. It scratches my right shoulder and I can feel it bleeding. But I couldn't worry about that now.

I started screaming, finding something to try and fight back. What was a five year old to do in this sort of situation?

"Mom stop!" I scream as she tries to move closer. The table John broke is blocking her way.

Quickly I go through the drawers trying to find that gun Maria used to have just incase.

When I finally feel that cool metal in my finger tips they have moved the table. Walking in a weird way, groaning loudly.

*Boom*

*Boom*

I just killed my parents. I killed them and left them in the house. I only killed them before they killed me.

Then I left. Leaving everything behind. I even wrote a letter of what happened. That letter I horribly wrote in my messy five year old handwriting and purple ink.

*End of flashback*

That is where it all started. I hid outside of the "Towns" until I found Lea and Bex. We started helping each other out. Saving each others lives. Everyone lost someone. Just all at different times.

*Present time*

"I'm never going to see them again." Bex cries into my shoulder.

Bex has been through a lot.

I mean we all have.

Lea won't talk about hers as much, which I get. Bex has just opened up to it all. Which I am guessing she over thinks a lot. L and I don't tend to do but we still think. We still have flashbacks about the days we lost our families.

Bex was the first one to open up about all of this.

I for one am trying to forget everything that happened. That scar over my right shoulder is the only thing holding me back.

"Guys we have to keep moves. Zombies are in the building!" Lea says shooting one of those freaks right in the head.

I jump up grabbing my backpack and loading my gun.

"There looks like to be an untouched farm house up ahead. Lets go there for further planning." Bex yells over the gun fire.

I guess we're going to find another empty house that has already been raided.

"Lets go before someone gets bitten." L yells jumping through a broken window.

"Show off." I mutter making Bex laugh.

I hope Bex is feeling better. We need to save ourselves before the people who are already unsaveable.
