Chapter 27
Ash’s POV:
I wake up in the morning next to Liam. Something that I have been looking forward to every morning. I for one am not a morning person but waking up to him brightens up my whole day. I go from not wanting to get up, to wanting to get up.
I mean, look at Liam’s cute adorable sleeping face. Who wouldn’t want to wake up next to that?
Though I still hate mornings with a huge passion, I still like waking up just for him. But when either of us is on watch that night we both stay up and talk to each other and wake one another up if we fall asleep.
It’s all this cute lovey stuff that keeps me going day after day. Oddly enough. I usually am not the one for the love type things. I usually am grossed out by the thing. But now I am not. It is very odd how one thing can change into another.
Quietly I sneak out of the bed and tip toe down the hallway not wanting to wake anyone else who happens to be sleeping.
The sunrise is just starting to appear over the horizon and into the cracks of the horribly curtained windows.
No one seems to be up and looking around the house for things we may need when we leave today. But yet again, the sun hasn’t completely rose so no one is up.
I walk into the kitchen to find something to drink but I end up finding a bunch of notes. I look for the one with my name on it and read it.
“Dear Ash and Liam, you two lovebirds! You guys are by far the cutest couple in the house! I love how much you guys care for one another and everyone else too. Keep everyone safe. Don’t come after me. –Bex”
Quickly I take a look around me making sure nobody is chuckling at me. This is a prank right? Bex wouldn’t just leave the team that loves her. Unless she is a traitor that never liked us in the first place. That isn’t her.
If this is a prank would she really leave this many notes on the table?
If so, this is a well-planned out prank that should not be going on at this time in the morning. I am the only one up and no one else would know about it until I tell them and then the prank wouldn’t be a prank to everyone else.
“Bex? You there?” I whisper trying to listen for her snicker or breathing from within her hiding spot. “Come out and I’ll help you prank everyone else!”
I don’t think this is a prank. She would have bursted out laughing at my confused facial expressions and the way I tried to call out for her. She must really be gone.
“Lea! Liam! Trent! Someone!” I yell before hearing footsteps and doors opening and closing.
A gunshot flies right above my head and through a glass window shattering it. I dropped to the floor right in time for it to not hit me.
“Why did you shoot?!” I yell standing up.
Trent is holding a shotgun, Lea is holding a pistol, Sam has a shoe in his hand, Carlie sleeply has a long stick, and Liam holds a sniper rifle. They all look at me then at each other trying to find who shot.
“Sorry its force of habbit,” Lea says holstering her gun. “I didn’t mean to shoot.”
“It’s fine. It’s too early to think,” I say while everyone makes their way to the kitchen table.
The rest of the group soon joins us as we read the notes. Everyone looks at each other in shock.
“She really left?” everyone nods their heads to Trent’s sort of question.
“Did you read what she said to me?!” Carlie scoffs. “Why would she ever say that?! I thought she was nice!”
“Something’s wrong. This isn’t feeling right. We might have to carry out the plan sooner,” L starts gathering up things and stuffs them into a bag.
“What’s the plan?” Two young voices say at once.
“Yeah what’s the plan?” Carlie asks gathering some of her things.
“The older trusted leaders get to know,” Liam says moving me aside to grab another letter off the table. “Follow instructions as told and you will be just fine.”
Everything turns silent as we pack everything that we will need on our journey to the next point. I don’t know what we’re going to do. First we have to find Bex and then we have to enter the City somehow and not get killed.
The only way we could re-enter a City is to sneak in our get through with government passes. Which, I don’t think we could possibly get one of those. I have a very old one that might get us through, but we need one for everyone over sixteen. I don’t think they would let me bring all of us in under one pass.
I am not sure how we will get in, or what the plan is. But I am just going with the flow. Lea and Liam are the main two leaders here. I am just here to protect.
“Who’s the leaders?” Max asks.
“You, Trent, Ash, Lea, and myself,” Liam says. “Meet upstairs to plan?”
“Sounds good,” I say moving out of everyone’s way and moving upstairs.
Quickly I go into the room I slept in. I make the bed and cleaned up everything I have of things.
“Why would Bex just leave?” Liam asks hugging me from behind.
I turn my head to look at his face. “I have no clue. Something is really off.”
He nods moving away. I zip up my bag and follow Liam into a room.
“Let’s plan this thing shall we?”
