Chapter 17 - An Ultimatum

"WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS?!" recoiled Josh in horror, he had betrayed Tobi, he should have known better and had dug himself into an incredibly deep hole.

"Well the answer is rather complicated" said the figure stood across the bathroom from him, "but allow me to explain. When I first could tell that Tobi had feelings for you I was upset, I had plans to ask you out and had been working up the courage to. It hasn't been easy for me to conceal my sexuality and my feelings, I'm bi by the way, not that your selfish arse would care, you and Tobi know this better than anyone. When you first rejected him, I was happy. Happy because I always thought that you were only interested in girls, something that I was willing to test, but something I was obviously willing to respect, something that Tobi initially didn't."

"He apologised though. In the end none of that matters as we're together." Josh had to calm down, he had to react confidently and intellectually outmanoeuvre this threat to his and Tobi's relationship, but the man across from him, to his horror, had this better planned than he had thought .

"Quite. Well you are right that it won't matter, because after tonight, your relationship with Tobi won't exist. I've always been the one who's done everything for all of us in this group. I've looked after everyone else's problems, I've done my best and what recognition have I gotten for it? NOTHING. Absolutely fuck all from you lot, I've never really been in the foreground in the group, yes I've been prominent in group videos, but whenever I have a chance to have a great little moment, one of you takes the spotlight away from me. This doesn't just extend to videos, it extends to normal life."

Josh tried to take all this in: "WHAT!? We've appreciated everything you've done! I'm sorry that we haven't shown it but we all have. We don't mean to take any spotlight! You're one of the most loved members of the group, probably the most respected! You encouraged Tobi to embrace his feelings for me for god sake! HOW THE HELL COULD YOU THINK THIS?!"

"Well at the end of the day, this is for me. What I'm doing will satisfy me and I don't care what any of you will think. I've had relationships with girls that have been overshadowed by yours and everyone else's and all of you have stuck your noses in them, but I thought that an emotional connection would you would really work and the fact that I could have perhaps beaten Tobi to you HAS DRIVEN ME MAD. My aim tonight was to try and take you away from Tobi and make you mine, but now I realise Josh, you don't deserve me. If you can't have me then no one else will, you're going to pay for overlooking me, all of you will and this is just the beginning. I wanted to see how you would react if Tobi revealed his feelings to you. I was initially right. But then the massive fucking U-turn you made was something I didn't expect, bravo Josh, you genuinely surprised me. I was devastated, knowing you and I could have been together."

"But you couldn't have been with me, there never was a chance, he and I share something that even I can't describe."

"OH FUCKING SHUT UP JOSH! You and I would have just as a loving and fun connection and the thought excites you doesn't it" a huge grin appearing on the person's face, resulting in Josh squirming uncomfortably. "But it's too late for that now. You're going to suffer as I have. I've had the six of you playing in my little orchestra which I've been conducting, but the symphony ends now.

Josh then joined the dots together. "I don't believe this, you've practically orchestrated this whole thing, helping Tobi revealing his feelings for me, inviting me back after my outburst, calming everyone down.."

"I even got Harry to reveal his feelings to Tobi. Everyone comes to me for advice in the end, because you're all pathetic and stupid boys who can't do anything for themselves but think you can do and take whatever you want."

Josh felt sick. He didn't know what to do.

"Anyway, here's what's going to happen: I'm going to give you a time limit of a month to break up with Tobi and finish with him. If you don't, I reveal the intimate session we just had to him."

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!!"

"Oh but I can. one month Josh, or boom, the foundations all crumble."

"You can't break Tobi and me up! He won't believe you. Our relationship is too strong for your petty blackmail."

"I wouldn't be so sure, because one, unlike Harry with Tobi, we had a lovely little session, at least I got to have some intimate time with you and two, you'll be surprised how the guilt starts to eat away at you."

"SO YOU'VE JUST DONE ALL THIS TO PROVE A POINT!? YOU'RE SO JEALOUS OF ME AND TOBI THAT YOU CAN'T STAND IT? YOU JUST WANT TO USE OUR GROUP AS A STEPPING STONE TO GET WHAT YOU WANT? HOW COULD YOU? YOU'VE BEEN BLINDED!!"

"On the Contrary Josh. I see more clearly now than I ever have. People have said that our success could mean that this new year will be the year of the Sidemen."
